05/24/10 Greenwich Estate Opened to Bruce Museum Patrons by owner Sachiko Goodman

Sachiko Goodman, the managing director at Douglas Elliman opened her Greenwich Estate to Bruce Museum Patrons.

Well known for being the top broker in Manhattan, she is an active investor as well. Japanese born beauty Goodman and her husband Lawrence a retired businessman and philanthropist, opened their estate in Belle Haven, Connecticut for the Annual Bruce Museum Patron Party which was held on May 20.

In the modernist corridor, in an open white space hung multiple Warhol images of Goodman. The images were her 30th birthday present which she never fancied until recently. Describing her late friend Andy Warrhol, Goodman said that she just loved him as a person even though he was a little weird but very nice. Warrhol took hundreds of Polaroid images of her to create portraits and Goodman considers herself lucky to have them.

The stately 20,000 square-foot brick mansion also exhibited ‘Vuillard gouache’ in pastel tones which was purchased by Lawrence Goodman’s mother in 1950s. Marjorie Prescott the first owner of the home was an Anglophile who collected Shakespeare folios. The center hall was anchored by a large sculptor by Bottero. Other outstanding pieces included Diego Giacometti of an ostrich, L’ Autruche.

Peter C. Sutton, the director of Bruce Museum said that in Belle haven there are unbelievable treasures. They create shows from local collections all the time, from Renaissance to the present.
