Greenwich Hunkers Down As Blizzard Strikes

The town of Greenwich is hunkering down as a blizzard slams the East Coast on Monday and drops heavy snow throughout Tuesday. First Selectman Peter Tesei said Town Hall will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 27, and that Eastern Middle School and Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center will be on standby as shelters but are not currently open.Both shelters have generators available in the event of power outages from the strong winds.

Greenwich Audubon Center Welcomes Birds Of Prey To Family-Friendly Event

The Audubon Center of Greenwich hosted a "Family Breakfast and Wildlife Show" on Sunday, Jan. 25, with Michelle Hips of the New Canaan Nature Center showing off a few of her wild friends. "Seeing animals in person is a special experience for a young child," said Jeff Cordulack, the center's events and communications manager.

Greenwich Schools On Early Release For Monday

Students at schools in Greenwich will be on a three-hour early release Monday, Jan. 26, due to an approaching blizzard. Based on consultation with Town Officials, the Emergency Management Operations Center, and the Greenwich Police Department, Superintendent of Schools William McKersie will announce the opening status of schools for Tuesday, Jan. 27, on Monday evening.
