Police Watch: The following reports were released April 10

IDENTITY THEFT

Frank Chimblo, 35, of 13-2 Harold St., Cos Cob, was arrested April 8 and charged with first degree identity theft, conspiracy to commit first degree larceny and fourth degree larceny. Police said Chimblo had been appearing at Stamford Superior Court on an unrelated matter when he was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant. Chimblo had allegedly been found in possession of another person’s identification during a previous police search. Chimblo was turned over to the state marshal’s office for action.

LARCENY

Elmsford, N.Y., resident Tina Hummel, 35, was arrested April 8 and charged with sixth degree larceny, second degree forgery and attempting to obtain medication with a forged prescription. Hummel was taken into custody from the Westchester Correctional Facility in Valhalla, N.Y., after she waived extradition on a Greenwich warrant stemming from an Oct. 29 incident. At that time, Hummel had allegedly entered the Riverside Walgreens Pharmacy with a forged prescription and, during the transaction, grabbed the medication from the counter and left the store without paying for it. Hummel was released on a $500 cash bond and is due in court April 16.

DUI

Julia Jones, 61, of 8 Tomac Ave., Old Greenwich, was arrested April 9 and charged with driving under the influence. Police had been on patrol when Jones was reportedly seen driving through a red light and making a left turn onto Bruce Park Avenue. Police said when an officer pulled her car over, she smelled of alcohol and had red, glassy eyes and slurred speech. Police asked Jones to go through field sobriety tests but police said she didn’t understand what she was being asked despite being told several times. Her refusal was documented as a lack of cooperation. She was also charged with failure to obey a red light. Jones was held in lieu of a $250 cash bond and is due in court April 24.

World War II-era play turns writing to art

The Bush-Holley Historic Site will present a reading of Act II of the play Dear Eva at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in the Vanderbilt Education Center at the society’s Bush-Holley Historic Site at 39 Strickland Road in Cos Cob.

Quinnipiac University associate professor of journalism Paul Janensch and Catherine Ladnier of Greenwich wrote the nonfiction play based on real World War II era letters saved by Ms. Ladnier’s mother, Eva Lee Brown of Easley, S.C. Ms. Ladnier discovered the letters a few years ago and asked Mr. Janensch to write the play with her.

A conversation with Mr. Janensch and Ms. Ladnier follows the one-hour performance.

Admission is $15.

Police seek suspects in Walgreens assault

Police are asking for assistance this week in finding the two people accused of beating and robbing a disabled man outside Walgreens last month....

...Police have now released descriptions of the suspects and are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.

One suspect is described as a well-dressed black woman approximately five feet, three inches tall with a medium build and black hair with bangs. She was reportedly wearing a white jacket and dark slacks. The second suspect is a black male described by police as “athletic” with a medium complexion and an unshaven face. He is reportedly six feet tall with a medium build, and police say he was wearing a baseball cap, blue jeans and a black, white and blue-shouldered jacket.

Both suspects were seen inside the store before the incident took place....

Public's help needed to find attackers of disabled man
Detectives say the man is disabled and partially blind.

Greenwich police are asking for the public’s help in finding the people who violently attacked and robbed a disabled man last month.

The attack occurred on East Putnam Avenue on March 12. Police say when the man, who is in his 50s, was shopping at Walgreens he accidentally showed he was carrying a large sum of money.

According to police, two people followed the disabled, partially blind man out of the store and spoke with him in the parking lot. Authorities say the man was assaulted and robbed after he walked about a block from the store.

Surveillance video shows the victim speaking with a man and woman in the parking lot. Greenwich police want to identify these people to see if they have information about the attack.
