01/28/10 Last night

Linda McMahon For Senate

Dear Brian,

I have been a business person for a long time, and I know a marketing campaign when I see one.

Last night's State of the Union Address was little more than a public relations effort to give an out-of-control Washington an image makeover.

Washington spending is out-of-control!

The only way we can halt our rising debt is to stop spending money we don't have. Connecticut families have had to make tough decisions in their budgets.

If Connecticut families get it -- why doesn't Washington?

If Washington is serious about fiscal responsibility, it will put in place a real and immediate spending freeze on the remaining portion of the stimulus, table a second planned stimulus, use all of the paid back and unspent TARP funds to pay down the federal debt and put the brakes on its budget-busting health care reform initiative.

Here's how you can help:

  1. Share this email with five of your friends and ask them to join our campaign -- so that together we can send a message that we need leaders with real-world business experience, not Washington politicians, to solve our problems.
  2. Become a fan of Linda on Facebook.

Thanks for your help,
Linda
Linda

P.S. We launched a new website last week to help you get involved with my campaign and learn about the issues most important to Connecticut families. My website also has my full response to the State of the Union.

Play with Your Food Love Theme for Greenwich Performances, February 10th and 11th

Greenwich, CT: January 28, 2010: Valentine’s Day is around the corner and with it comes the inevitable discussions of love and relationships. Love with a twist will be the theme of the upcoming lunchtime theatre series at the Greenwich Arts Council on February 10 & 11, Play With Your Food.

This second in a series of three programs, Play With Your Food has been entertaining Fairfield Country audiences since 2003 with professional readings of one-act plays and lunch. “We always try to present theatre that’s relevant to our lives,” said Artistic Director Carole Schweid. “Maybe that’s why so many of our plays address different aspects of relationships. We relish the challenge of making sure that each time we do, the material remains fresh and enjoyable.”

The “fresh and enjoyable” fare for February begins with a buffet lunch of sandwiches and salads catered by Centro Ristorante at 12 noon, against the backdrop of the Greenwich Art’s Society’s Ninety-third Annual Juried Exhibition in the Bendheim Gallery. Presentations of two short plays follow from 12:30 – 1:30pm in the GAC Meeting Room.

A tender and touching story, The Man Who Couldn’t Dance, written by Jason Katims (Boston Public, Friday Night Lights), examines the missed opportunities and paths not taken by a young couple, affectingly portrayed by Zack Fine and Bethany Caputo.

Originally written in 1968, Lovers and Other Strangers, a smash hit on Broadway and then a film, is a play about love, couples, togetherness and the natural comedy that ensues. Famous comedy team Renee Taylor and Joseph Bologna mine relationships, sex, being married, and being a man or woman for the comedic fodder that still makes this wonderfully funny more than 40 years later. Fine and Caputo are joined onstage by Play With Your Food favorites, Fairfield County’s own Nadine Willig and Bob Adrian.

Now in its fifth year at Greenwich Arts Council, Play With Your Food also produces a series in Westport, Fairfield and Newtown. For details of the programs, visit www.playwithyourfood.org The 2010 Greenwich season, sponsored by RBS Sempra Commodities and Starbucks, concludes on March 31 and April 1 with The Trip (Stephanie Keys); Surprise (Mark Harvey Levine) and An Upset (David Auburn), with lunch by Garelick & Herbs.

All Play With Your Food performances at the Greenwich Arts Council, 299 Greenwich Avenue, run from 12 noon – 1:30pm. Paid reservations are required. Tickets are $42/$40 for GAC members, and can be ordered by calling 203.293.88.31 (Monday – Friday, 10am – 3pm), or online at http://www.playwithyourfood.org/.

Greenwich Resident Tom Foley's Campaign Corner 01-27-09 Edition (greenwichroundup.blogspot)
Tom has been working overtime here at headquarters developing his plan for turning Connecticut around. It's called A Plan Forward for Connecticut and we will release it online in the coming days. A Plan Forward for Connecticut details Tom's ideas for bringing back jobs and the economy in our state, reducing the cost and size of state government and reducing the tax burden on working families. Tom realizes that if we want to accomplish these goals we first have to change the way business is done in Hartford. Hartford is broken and broke and Tom's Plan Forward for Connecticut is the first step in trying to fix it. Tom knows that if we're going to rescue our state's financial future we need a fresh, outsider perspective: not the same Hartford tactics that got us in this predicament. Thanks again for your support of Tom and be on the lookout for his Plan Forward for Connecticut. Regards, Justin Clark Campaign Manager, Tom Foley for Governor Comment
