Greenwich Mother Wins $638K in Sadomasochism Case Involving Her Disabled Daughter

A Greenwich woman has won nearly $638,000 in damages from a Greenwich man she claimed had a sadomasochistic sexual relationship with her disabled and mentally ill daughter. The jury returned the verdict Thursday in favor of Mary Kortner, who claimed her daughter, Caroline Kendall Kortner, was unable to consent to an abusive sexual relationship with Craig Martise, a married father of four, because of her mental state, according to NBC Connecticut.

Greenwich PD's Jeremiah Bussell Is Named Officer of the Month

Greenwich Police Officer Jeremiah Bussell has been named the department's Officer of the Month for October for his role in solving two burglaries. In a statement, the department said Bussell investigated two separate burglaries within a week's time and realized that the two burglaries were linked.

Greenwich Commuters' Trains Would Have Cameras Monitoring Tracks, Wayside Areas, Cabs

Metro-North Railroad and Long Island Rail Road today won approval from a committee of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board to award contracts totaling $34.6 million for the purchase of inward- and outward-facing cameras in the cabs of their rail fleets. The outward-facing cameras will be used to record track and wayside activities, and the inward-facing cameras will be used to record the engineer's control area while the train is in operation.

A Connecticut jury has awarded about $638,000 to a woman who sued a man she said had a sadomasochistic sexual relationship with her mentally ill and disabled daughter. The Stamford Superior Court jury returned the verdict Thursday in favor of Mary Kortner, who said her daughter, Caroline Kendall Kortner, couldn't have consented to an abusive sexual relationship with Greenwich resident Craig Martise because of her mental state.

Port Chester Man, 29, Stopped for Driving With Only 1 Headlight Now Faces DUI Charge

A driver is facing motor vehicle charges including driving under the influence after he was stopped by Greenwich Police for having an unlit headlight. The driver was stopped about 4:10 a.m. Nov. 9 while he was eastbound on West Putnam Avenue, according to a police report.

Greenwich Police Patrol Officer Bussell Honored For Solving Burglaries

GREENWICH, Conn., -- A Greenwich Police Department patrol officer was able to solve two separate burglaries without having to turn the case over to the Detective Division, said Police Chief James Heavey as he named Jeremy Bussell the Officer of the Month for November. Heavey said Bussell's thorough investigation led to the identification of a previously unknown suspect with an extensive criminal past as he solved both burglaries.

Greenwich's Convent Of The Sacred Heart Plans 'Wonderful Life' Radio Play

GREENWICH, Conn. Convent of the Sacred Heart in Greenwich announced plans to perform the 1946 holiday classic "It's A Wonderful Life" as an old-time radio play during the weekend of Nov. 21. Performances are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 21 and Saturday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. in the John and Lennie de Csepel Theater on the Sacred Heart campus at 1177 King St. in Greenwich.

A Stamford man was arrested Friday and charged with possession of more than 11,000 pictures and 18 videos of child pornography. Ranjer Gonzalez , 34, of Greenwich Avenue, was charged with first-degree possession of child pornography and importation of child pornography.
