Superintendent of New Haven Schools Reginald Mayo Has Just Made Another Boneheaded Decision School board appoints 7 administrators; uncertified staff in flux ... ....Among administrative appointees Monday were Frank Costanzo as Cooperative Arts High School assistant principal, Yolanda Jones-Generette as Barnard Magnet School assistant principal, Jennifer Olson as Katherine Brennan School assistant principal, Sarah Rosner as James Hillhouse High School assistant principal, Karen Lott as Katherine Brennan School principal and Sabrina Breland as Urban Youth Center principal. Salaries for the new principals and assistants range from $101,272 to $124,703..... .....Also Monday, former Greenwich Principal Damaris Rau was tapped as the district’s new director of instruction, replacing Miriam Camacho, who retired this year. Rau will earn $131,143 a year. Rau will be responsible for managing schools and principals, focusing on improving student achievement, implementing curriculum, and reviewing student and staff assessments, among other tasks. Rau began her career in New York City as an early-childhood teacher and later became an assistant principal. She most recently served as principal at the Hamilton Avenue School, a Title I school in Greenwich. Assistant Superintendent of Schools Garth Harries said Rau is gifted in serving “high needs populations.” Superintendent of Schools Reginald Mayo welcomed Rau and the new staff Monday. “You are going to move this system — help us go from good to great,” he said.
