Obama Will Likely Fly Into Westchester For Upcoming Greenwich Fundraiser

The event in Greenwich, Conn., is set for Oct. 7 at the Conyers Farm estate of Richard and Ellen Schapps Richman, who hosted Obama at a 2010 fundraiser, Hearst said. Obama is likely to fly into Westchester Airport in White Plains for this latest visit to the area.

Naugatuck Police Department Adds a New Officer

The Naugatuck Police Department is happy to welcome Officer Patrick O'Connor to the force, according to the Police Department's Facebook page. Officer O'Connor grew up in a law enforcement family, as his dad has been a highly respected police officer in the town of Greenwich for over thirty years Officer O'Connor is a graduate of Greenwich High school and Southern Connecticut State University.

Urstadt Biddle sells Springfield, Mass., mall for $31 million

Urstadt Biddle Properties, a Greenwich-based real estate investment trust, said it has sold a 328,000 square-foot retail shopping mall in Springfield, Massachusetts, known as the "Five Town Plaza Shopping Center," for $31 million in cash. The property was sold to an institutional real estate company, and Urstadt Biddle will use the proceeds of the sale to repay existing debt, it said in a statement after markets closed on Thursday.

Destination Greenwich -- President Obama To Headline Democratic Fundraiser Next Month

The president has spent part of this week in New York City, addressing the United Nations General Assembly. And now he's apparently penciled in on his calendar, plans to come to backcountry Greenwich for an Oct. 7 fundraiser for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, according to Hearst Connecticut Media Group.

Greenwich Reads Together Program Receives State Humanities Grant

Greenwich Library announced that it has received a $1,500 grant from the Connecticut Humanities in support of Greenwich Reads Together. The grant will fund Greenwich Reads Together programming in October 2014 including an author visit, an examination of politics and the Olympics and a film, as well as numerous discussion groups for children, teens and adults.

A state plan to build a multi-use trail that would span the entire 37.5 miles of the Merritt Parkway, stretching from the New York State border in Greenwich to the Sikorsky Bridge and Housatonic River in Stratford is raising concerns among Greenwich residents and town officials.
