When the two ships sailing from the Florida Keys to Maine as part of Outward Bound’s Odyssey Expedition docked at Indian Harbor Yacht Club Tuesday, it wasn’t just a chance for weary sailors to get some time on land, it was also a home visit for Catherine Boysen.

New superintendent gets to know district
To start off the first week of what they pledge will be years of working together, new Superintendent of Schools Sidney Freund and his top deputy Ellen Flanagan took off on a whirlwind tour of the district’s schools.
Not only did the duo stop in at all of the district’s 15 schools, but also made it a point to visit every classroom in the elementary schools. While Mr. Freund will not officially succeed Betty Sternberg until July 1, Ms. Flanagan began her work as Deputy Superintendent of Schools on Monday and the two have already had several conversations about the educational approach they want to bring to the district.
Parents get tips for cybersafety
For all the parents worried about potential cyber-dangers lurking for their children on the Internet, Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Richard Colangelo Jr. had some advice about the sensible steps they can take.
“You can’t parent the Internet,” Mr. Colangelo reminded the parents. “But you can parent your kids.”
Police call for drivers to use their turn signal
During the month of April 2009, the Greenwich Police Department focused its efforts on enforcing the laws relative to using turn signals on the roadways to signal the driver’s intention.
Children of the American Revolution elects officers
Chelsea Bacon, outgoing president of the Connecticut Society Children of the American Revolution (CSCAR) and the president of the local Mary Bush Society CAR now has five new fellow society members who ran for Connecticut State Officer positions: Christina Moazed, state chaplain; Kirsten Schnackenberg, state treasurer; Jason Bacon, state registrar; and Victoria Slater, state councilor.
Girl Scouts to help disadvantaged girls in town
Girl Scouts of Connecticut will be able to serve over 900 disadvantaged girls in Greenwich, Norwalk, Stamford and Danbury through a grant of $10,000 from The Perrin Family Foundation.
