"Never once did you or Mr. Capasso ask for parents of today's varsity players their opinions with respect to the renewal of Burke's yearly contract to coach or invite us to a meeting to discuss such," wrote Karen Feeney in the e-mail sent Friday morning.
The e-mail also expresses concern with the decision to keep Burke on as coach after he was charged with driving while under the influence in Darien last summer. School officials suspended Burke for two weeks at the start of the season as a result of the arrest. Police said Burke crashed his BMW Z4 into a stone wall on June 15, 2008, at 2:37 a.m on Middlesex Road.

Sternberg said Friday that comments received by the school concerning Burke's coaching position were completely unsolicited and no one received an invitation to send in letters.
"I want to make it clear that these were unsolicited e-mails. We did not ask for comment," said Sternberg, who noted that the school district does not seek out public comment for personnel issues.

School officials said Wednesday that they considered comments received from parents about Burke -- some described as "absolutely glowing" -- as well as the circumstances of both DWI arrests before deciding to suspend him for the first two weeks of the lacrosse season. Burke is also a teacher at the school, but the suspension does not affect his classroom duties
Sternberg said she believed some of the comments were from current lacrosse parents, but she was not certain. Some of the comments, she said, were submitted by parents who Burke had asked to write on his behalf. Sternberg said she was never directly asked to meet with parents concerned about Burke, but would be open to meeting with them at any time.
"If there are issues or concerns that we can address in any way to ensure the safety of the students, we will do that," said Sternberg.

And then we will all be asking why he isn't in prison.
This man has already shown his disregard for the laws by driving while his license was suspended. and now he is still driving while drunk.
My question isn't how many DUI's it takes to get fired; he doesnt seem to be a danger to the students.
My question is how many DUI's does it take to get him off the streets.
Some people may take this issue lightly because they have driven drunk themselves.
But ask the parents of a child killed by a drunk driver, or the widows and orphans of people killed by drunk drivers, how lightly we should consider it.
People with multiple convictions for drunk driving should be incarcerated. They are a clear and present danger to public safety.
