RTM OKs funds for storm-related repairs

Nearly a year after a nor'easter devastated several parts of Greenwich, the Representative Town Meeting overwhelmingly approved $727,000 last night for bridge, road and other infrastructure repairs necessitated by the storm.

....After last year's nor'easter, the town spent $640,000 of the $727,000 repairing a number of severely damaged bridges, culverts and dams. Among the structures needing repairs were the Bailiwick Road bridge over the Byram River in Glenville, the Bible Street culvert in Cos Cob and the Cos Cob Pond dam.

The Bailiwick Road bridge sustained extensive damage to its stone masonry parapets and deck....


Woman suing town over lack of drains

A backcountry woman is suing the town, contending it failed to install drainage on her street that would have prevented severe flooding of her Corrigan Lane home during last April's nor'easter.

Cops expect more arrests in pot case

Greenwich detectives and federal agents expect more arrests to come from a Greenwich-based marijuana trafficking and money laundering ring from which they've seized $1.4 million in cash, according to Greenwich police. Six people have been indicted for running the operation.

YMCA sees membership increase

One might say the recruitment of new members at the Greenwich Family YMCA has gone swimmingly with the opening of its new Olympic-size pool.
