SENATOR JOSEPH LIEBERMAN TO PRESENT THE GIFT OF REST
JCC GREENWICH and UJA FEDERATION OF GREENWICH
Greenwich, CT, October 24, 2011 -- JCC Greenwich and UJA Federation of Greenwich are proud to present an evening with Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman on Sunday, October 30 at 5pm, hosted by The Greenwich Reform Synagogue.
Senator Lieberman will discuss his new book, The Gift of Rest: Rediscovering the Beauty of the Sabbath, reflecting on how the observance of the Sabbath has anchored and inspired his life. Written with David Klinghoffer, the book serves as both a personal and political memoir with insights for readers of all faiths.Senator Joe Lieberman is in his fourth and final term representing Connecticut in the United States Senate. The 2000 Democratic vice-presidential candidate and running mate of Al Gore became the America's first Jewish contender for national office on a major-party ticket. Born in Stamford, CT, where he lives with his wife Hadassah, he received his bachelor's degree from Yale College in 1964 and his law degree from Yale Law School in 1967.
Senator Lieberman was first elected to the United States Senate in 1988, scoring the nation's biggest political upset that year. He is considered one of Congress's most influential voices on security issues and is an ardent champion of equal opportunity for all Americans. He plans to retire from the United States Senate in January 2013.
