Second Congregational Church is inviting the community to take part in a family-friendly homecoming weekend Sept. 10-11. Events are free and will be held at the church, at 139 E. Putnam Ave. in Greenwich.
The homecoming theme will be “The Living Stones,” inspired by Peter’s first letter to early Christians, in which he calls them to holy living and urges them to “love one another deeply from the heart.”
On Saturday, Sept. 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon, the church will offer, for younger children, a program of crafts and engaging activities centered on a geological theme.
On Sunday, Sept. 11, during the 10:30 a.m. worship service, the Rev. Holly Adams, transitional senior minister, will deliver the homecoming sermon on the “living stones” theme and include a remembrance of the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11.
A barbecue luncheon, complete with an ice cream truck, will follow at 11:30 a.m. A “Building for the Ages” event also will be held.
Reservations for the Saturday event and the Sunday luncheon are strongly encouraged.
For reservations and further information, please contact Gloria LaDestro, church office manager, at 203-869-9311, ext. 120 or gloria@2cc.org.
