07/15/10 The 2010 Connecticut Mastery Test Scores: How Did Greenwich Do?
Results from statewide Connecticut Mastery Tests released this morning show that elementary and middle school students have generally improved since 2006, though the scores are difficult to compare because, for the first time, many school districts did not include scores for special education students.

Math and reading scores up, writing and science down at town primary schools

students' writing scores declined, with 79.4 percent reaching goal in 2010, down from 81.2 percent in 2009, state figures show. In science, 73.6 percent of students reached goal this year, down slightly from 73.9 percent last year.
This was the second year of decline in science scores since the subtest in the topic was introduced as part of the CMT in 2008.....
Democratic Town Committee member Sean Goldrick noted that Greenwich ranks lower than many districts in the state's groupings of both the wealthiest districts as well as the second-ranked group, of which Greenwich is part.
"Compared with our peers, we do poorly, overall," Goldrick said. "We are not at the top of anything, and yet we are one of the wealthiest towns in America, with one of the best-educated populations of parents."....
