These tend to be false alarms, but a reader wrote two hours ago (hey, I was out) that there are bomb squad folks and cops all over the Exit 3 off-amp. I’m sure it’s over now, but does anyone know what that was about? Dave Ridberg hasn’t called to tell me, for some reason.

A section of Greenwich Avenue was shut down Friday morning after a garbage man alerted police to a suspicious device while clearing trash receptacles along the roadway, police said.

Captain Timothy Berry said police received a call from the worker just after 9 a.m., reporting a suspicious electronic device in the back of his garbage truck....
....."It is still suspicious in nature and we will continue to investigate how it came to be there and ensure it is not a danger," Berry said.

Police re-opened Greenwich Avenue at about 10 a.m. and said the area is safe to travel in.
