SUPERINTENDENT APPOINTS INTERIM ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
FOR PARKWAY SCHOOL
(Greenwich, CT - For Immediate Release, Wednesday, December 2, 2009) Superintendent of
Schools, Dr. Sidney A. Freund has announced the appointment of Ms. Kristin Goldstein as
Interim Assistant Principal for Parkway School, effective January 1, 2010. An educator for the
last fifteen years, Ms. Goldstein has taught for the Greenwich Public Schools at Parkway School
since 2000 and is currently a third grade teacher.
Parkway School Principal, Paula Bleakley, said, “(Ms. Goldstein’s) thorough knowledge of
instructional best practices, her deep understanding of the special education process, and her
familiarity with our students, teachers, and families make her an ideal leader for this interim
position.”
The Parkway Assistant Principal position was open due to Barbara Riccio’s appointment as
Interim Principal for Hamilton Avenue School effective January 1, 2010.
Ms. Goldstein began teaching with the Broward County, FL Public Schools at Hallandale
Elementary School in 1994. She came to Greenwich and Parkway School in 2000 and has been
an active contributor to school and District support and improvement efforts. She has led (2004-
05) and been a member of Parkway School’s Strategic Improvement Team since 2003. She has
mentored new teachers, coached teachers new to the Everyday Math program across the District,
acted as a Math Facilitator for the school, and been a member of the school’s Student Assistance
Team. She has been a valued contributor to numerous curriculum reviews including Math,
Science and Social Studies
Ms. Goldstein received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the State University of New York
in Albany in 1992; her Masters of Science in Elementary Education from the College of Saint
Rose in Albany, NY in 1993; and her Professional Diploma in Educational Leadership from
Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, CT in 2007.
Ms. Tara Minichino, a long-term substitute teacher with the District, will become the third grade
teacher for Ms. Goldstein’s class through the end of this school year. A Greenwich High School
graduate, Ms. Minichino completed her student teaching in 2008 with the Greenwich Public
Schools at Parkway, and was then hired as a leave replacement teacher in first grade at North
Mianus School. She returned to Parkway as a long-term substitute for a third grade teacher on
maternity leave at the end of the 2008-09 school year and has been teaching at Julian Curtiss
School this Fall.
