BUDGET MEETING - Tuesday, December 1, 2009
Public Hearing on 2010-11 Budget
The PTAC President spoke in general support of the budget and with
specific focus on reinstating 3rd Grade ALP Interdisciplinary, and
questions on the Special Education program, SmartBoard implementation and
use. Three other members of the public spoke, referencing members of the
audience in attendance, in support of reinstating 3rd Grade ALP
Interdisciplinary.
Questions & Answers
The Board of Education asked for clarification and/or more information on
various topics addressed in the 12/1 Q&A document. Topics reviewed
included Hamilton Avenue School magnet theme, Math - specifically at the
middle school level, Magnet programs in general, International
Baccalaureate, Cabinet Incentive, ALP Interdisciplinary, Science
Curriculum Review, Project EVOLVE, Class Size Guidelines, centralized
curriculum, programs, and professional learning versus de-centralized,
Central Middle School AYP status, new Student Information System, leasing
versus buying computers, and plans for the implementation, training, use,
and replacement cycle of SmartBoards. The Board will be submitting
additional questions to the Superintendent for answers and discussion at
the next Budget Hearing/Meeting.

Next Board Meeting
The next meeting is the Board of Education Work Session on Thursday,
December 3, 2009, 7:00 PM at the Havemeyer Building. This is a regularly
scheduled work session of the Board of Education. While the 2010-11 Budget
is not a topic on the agenda for this meeting, topics included on the
agenda may relate to the ongoing budget discussions. For agenda and

Next Board BUDGET Meeting
The Next Board of Education meeting to discuss the 2010-11 Budget is
Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 7:00 PM at Cos Cob School. There will be a
public hearing at this meeting followed by a discussion by the Board on
the proposed 2010-11 Budget.
