BUDGET MEETING - Thursday, November 12, 2009
Superintendent's Proposed 2010-11 Budget
Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Sidney A. Freund, presented the proposed
2010-11 Budget to the Board of Education at Cos Cob School last night. The
proposed 2010-11 Budget of $131,559,261 represents a 4.4% increase over
the current year's budget. The increase is primarily due to increases in
salaries due to contractual obligations and a slight, projected increase
in enrollment. The proposed budget supports the continued implementation
of the District's key strategies for improvement, including professional
learning for Data Teams and TEPL, Reading Workshop and Word Study
Instruction, Science curriculum changes, SmartBoard installation, and the
development of Capstone Projects, Transdisciplinary Units, and Curriculum
Maps. The curriculum review cycle prescribes the start of the two-year
review process in 2010-11 for the Social Studies, Music and Physical
Education programs.
