Rau will earn $131,143 a year.

Rau will be responsible for managing schools and principals, focusing on improving student achievement, implementing curriculum, and reviewing student and staff assessments, among other tasks.

Rau began her career in New York City as an early-childhood teacher and later became an assistant principal. She most recently served as principal at the Hamilton Avenue School, a Title I school in Greenwich.

Assistant Superintendent of Schools Garth Harries said Rau is gifted in serving “high needs populations.”

Superintendent of Schools Reginald Mayo welcomed Rau and the new staff Monday.

You are going to move this system — help us go from good to great,” he said.
