Subject: FW: Hamilton Avenue TCO Received
Date: Fri, 30 Jan 2009 13:16:36 -0800
Dear Members of the Board, Mr. Tesei, Dr. Sternberg, and Dr. Rau
The attached News Release is completely unacceptable not only to me, but to many, many parents of students at Hamilton Avenue School.
This is a not-so-well veiled attempt to make sure we stay put in those again-leaking modulars so that the CMT's can be taken without imagined disruption to the process. Keeping these children in those decrepit modulars where they are experiencing, again, nosebleeds, headaches, and nausea is a travesty.
This building is ready. I do not for one moment believe that there are "conditions" to the TCO. This is an underhanded way to keep us where YOU want us, not where we want to be.
To claim that it is with the health and safety of the children in mind that this 5 week plan of Dr. Rau's is feasible is absurd. It is Dr. Rau's obvious intent to justify her ridiculously high salary by forcing us to stay in this building with the hopes that the CMT scores will go up. Since the scores don't come out until August, this doesn't wash.
Get us in there NOW!! Please be advised that I WILL be contacting the press regarding this disgusting show of disregard for our children.

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE Posted 4:32 p.m., Friday, Jan. 30, 2009
Despite having a temporary certificate of occupancy (TCO) in hand, Hamilton Avenue School students will likely not be in their new building until spring.
The Greenwich Public Schools released a statement Friday afternoon saying the move “is expected” to take place over the spring break scheduled for April 6 to 10. Several reasons were cited for the wait, including conditions placed on the TCO and that moving in April would insure “adequate time” to implement health and safety procedures, set up offices and classrooms, get students oriented to the new building and make sure that all the systems are fully operational.....
But The Real Unanswered Question In Ken Borsuk's Article Is Will Glenville Parents Put Thier Children In Classrooms With Water Leaks And Potential Mold Problems. Glenville Parents Had Better Sit In On The Next Hamilton Avenue PTA Meeting.....
.....The move is expected to be discussed Tuesday night at the Hamilton Avenue School PTA meeting, which is set for 7 p.m. in the modulars.

In her statement Ms. Sternberg also addressed the future for Glenville School students, who have been dispersed throughout the district while renovation is underway of their building. Those students are scheduled to enter the modulars once the Hamilton Avenue students leave them, but as had been expected, Ms. Sternberg said in the statement that the students would remain dispersed for the remainder of the school year.

....."I understand that the administration is telling us they need time to take students through the fire drills, and show them the lunch room and the art room," she said. "But that's usually done in a day or sometimes a week at the beginning of the school year. ... Now they can't get things together when they have two weeks?"
"This is a veiled attempt to keep the kids from getting into the building for CMT scores," charged Hamilton Avenue School parent Laura DiBella......
Why Doesn't Hearst Newspaper President Steven Swartz Just Fire John Dunster And His Pitiful Greenwich Time News Crew And Replace Them With Local Citizen Journalists Like Bill Clark, Chris Fountain, Frank Trotta And Laura DiBella?
