Auditorium panel picked

A mix of town legislators, parents, and construction professionals were chosen by the Board of Selectmen yesterday to oversee the renovation of the Greenwich High School auditorium to create a performing arts center with more concert and classroom space.

First Selectman Peter Tesei said the membership of the committee, which is required by the Town Charter, represents a breadth of experience that will help deal with any obstacles on the $23.4 million project....

... The Board of Selectmen also nominated Bruce Dixon for the board of directors of the Nathaniel Witherell nursing home, and reappointed Bernadette Settelmeyer, a Republican, to another five-year term as Greenwich Housing Authority commissioner.

Dixon, a licensed pilot, will probably continue to serve as chairman of the Selectmen's Committee on Aircraft Noise, Republican Selectman Peter Crumbine said.

"I've worked with him for several years now on the aircraft noise issue and he will continue to work on that issue," Crumbine said.
