Kick, whose position is directly beneath Fire Chief Peter Siecienski, is a native of Newtown. He previously held the position of deputy chief.
"I'll be in charge of the day-to-day operations, budgeting, new equipment and purchases, staffing - all aspects," said Kick. He cited his readiness for the position.
"I'm in my 15th year," Kick said, "and I've spent a lot of time training myself to be a better officer. I've been a lieutenant for five years and a deputy fire chief for a year and a half. It's a career-long process."
Kick also has experience on the labor side, having served two years as vice president of the Firefighters Local 1042 union.....
