Brunswick mothers take search for films for students worldwide
QUOTE:
“It can be fun, but it can be tedious because some of them are boring”
STORY:
Like a professional movie reviewer, Brunswick School mother Darrell Lorentzen attends foreign film festivals around the country to watch movies yet to be released. She and other Brunswick mothers also gather in Greenwich each week to watch and discuss foreign films for hours on end.
But the mothers aren't watching just for the popcorn and artsy entertainment. The mothers spend most of their fall watching the best and the worst of foreign films so their children may gain some insight into the lives of their peers around the world.
The group seeks movies, often with English subtitles, that will help Greenwich children understand cultures in other parts of the world when they are presented as part of the school's annual Fundance Foreign Film Festival, held in April.
