Theresa L. Monick, 46, of 18 Arthur St., was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct following a fight with her boyfriend at her home Friday evening, according to a police report.
She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at state Superior Court on Monday.

Norbert Vass, 37, of 365 Boston Post Road in Milford, was arrested Friday evening and turned over to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement Monday, police said.

The arrest came after a Greenwich police officer observed a gray Honda at Binney Park, which had closed for the night, police said.

After running the license plates, police discovered there was a federal warrant out for Vass's removal from the United States, according to the police department.

A motor vehicle stop was conducted on Arch Street, at which time Vass was taken into custody, police said.

Three men were arrested and charged with third-degree assault following a fight that occurred at 43 Overlook Drive early Friday, police said.

John Miller, 26, of 18 Cliff Ave., Stephen Collazo, 27, of 1280 N. Frontage Road in Vail, Colo., and Anthony Harris, 26, of 554 Beach Road in Mahopac, N.Y., were involved in the fight, which began after Harris became loud and boisterous and was asked to leave, police said.

Upon being escorted out by Collazo, who was the host, Harris punched Miller and a fight ensued, police said.

Harris sustained injuries requiring him to go to Greenwich Hospital, police said.

In addition to the assault charge, Harris was charged with breach of peace. Collazo and Miller were charged with disorderly conduct following the fight.

All three men were released from custody on a promise to appear and are scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford on Oct. 31.

Adrian Guevera, 18, of 1435 Bedford St., in Stamford was arrested Sunday morning and charged with sixth-degree larceny, police said.

Police determined Guevera was driving with a stolen license plate and took him into custody, according to the police report.

Guevera was released on a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford on Nov. 3.

Carolyn Ammerman, 51, of 2 Forest Ave., in Old Tappan, N.J. was arrested Saturday morning and charged with driving while under the influence, police said.

Ammerman was traveling near the area of 179 Post Road above the posted speed limit at which time she nearly struck the front of a police cruiser, according to the police report.

Ammerman sped off after the incident and disobeyed a red light at the Post Road and Sinawoy Road, police said.

A motor vehicle stop was initiated at which time Ammerman failed a series of sobriety tests and was arrested, police said.

She was additionally charged with failure to obey a control signal, traveling fast and unsafe movement, police said.

Ammerman was able to post her $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford on Nov. 10

It's a wonder that this reporter could have written about the local draft board and conscientious objector status, yet completely leave out the most infamous CO in Fairfield County-

Congressman Chris Shays. Why hasn't this paper written about Shays' claiming CO status during the Vietnam War? How did Shays manage to get CO status when he's not a Quaker, nor a member of a church that requires pacifism?

Shays is the guy who's been one of the biggest supporters of this senseless war in Iraq, and still favors keeping at least 60,000 troops there indefinitely, even though dozens are being killed and wounded every month even now. How does Chris Shays claim CO status, even declaring that he would have refused induction into the military if he hadn't been awarded CO status, yet he sends other young Americans to fight and die, which he believes is immoral?

The Short Bus wins area awards and fans

Local Greenwich band, The Short Bus, has recently become the first band to consecutively win both the "Grand Band Slam" poll by Fairfield Weekly Magazine and "Best of the Gold Coast" poll by Greenwich, Westport, Darien, New Canaan and Rowayton Magazines two years in a row. The Short Bus has actually won the "Grand Band Slam" three times now, and is the first band to win both awards at once, let alone two years in a row."It just goes to show that if you do what we've chosen to do, like stay current and remember our job is to make people happy, it really pays off," said Chuck Lovetri, rhythm guitarist and singer of the band.

The Short Bus is a band that is made up of Greenwich High School graduates and residents who have kept in touch over the years. Most of the members like Mark Zelenz, Ernie Albert, Chris Goane and Kenny Muller, have full-time jobs such as an MGM executive, a music studio owner, a company owner and an IT consulting firm owner. Meanwhile, Lovetri gave up his full-time working life, sold his company, and now goes to school full time at Columbia University to attain a PhD in Psychology.

Although the men have all jammed with each other for years, the idea of a band didn't come up until four years ago when a friend asked them to play at a party. From then on, it was "fate," as Lovetri liked to call it. Now all of the band members say they truly enjoy playing music on the weekends and are very appreciative of the fact that people come out to watch them perform....

....The Short Bus also plays shows for private parties and weddings and has recently been invited to play at Mohegan Sun's Wolf Den, which caters to a variety high energy performers, such as Blue Oyster Cult, Vertical Horizon and M80."All of the hard work leads to something that's really important and that's the value I give back to make all these people have a good time. But, it's also extremely therapeutic for us. That's what really bonds us with the audience," said Lovetri.

Dean Barnett has died. Dean was best known, perhaps, in the Bloggers' world but he was also a guest host on the Hugh Hewitt Show, a writer for the Weekly Standard, and one of the longest living cystic fibrosis sufferers. Dean and I were just email friends, though he liked my books and even plugged one - probably sold a couple of hundred copies for me, for which I remain grateful. What I regret is that, despite several attempts, we never met for dinner. At first we were going to meet half way between his home in Boston and mine, then I said I'd come up to Boston just for the pleasure. His health dropped off around then and we never had the chance again. I guess my point is, don't pass up such opportunities - make it a point to catch up with friends, go that extra mile. Because it sucks when it's too late.

10/27/08 Barack Obama holds a double-digit lead over John McCain in Connecticut - Obama 56%, McCain 39% & CT Native Ralph "Remember Me" Nader Gets 1%


The Greenwich Time's Previous Corporate Owner, Tribune Media Is Using It's Flagship Newspaper, The Hartford Courant, To Endorse Barack Obama.


In its 244-year history, The Courant has endorsed only one Democratic candidate for president, Bill Clinton. Now they have endorsed a second Democrat, Sen. Barack Obama, with the hope that if elected, he governs from the middle as Mr. Clinton did.


While The Greenwich Time's Current Corporate Owner, Hearst Newspapers Is Using Greenwich's Future Newspaper, Connecticut Post, Is Endorsing John McCain.


Before Connecticut's Feb. 5 presidential primary, the Connecticut Post endorsed Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain and Illinois Democratic Sen. Barack Obama for the nominations of their respective parties.


The CT Post says, they believed both candidates were men of principle and honor with the ability, if elected, to make the difference in moving this nation in a new, much-needed direction.


The CT Post Endorsement states, Throughout this long campaign Barack Obama has demonstrated a keen intellectual curiosity and a consistent approach to problem-solving.


Now here is the bizarre part, The CT Post is endorsing John "Keating Five" McCain, because he has more experience in Washington.

Families On Main Street Want To Throw The Washington Bums Who Created The Wall Street Meltdown Out Off Office.


Families in Greenwich want a deeper questioning of America's basic foundations, and a sharper focused direction that Obama will bring.


Greenwich and Fairfield County needs to get moving in the right direction. We need to fully address major problems such as health care, education and infrastructure. The country needs to unite in addressing the war in Iraq that is exerting a disabling impact on the economy.


A Port Chester Weekly Newspaper Publisher, Once Told Me That The Greenwich Time Was Such A Terrible Money Losing Newspaper, That The New York Time's Has A Higher Penetration Rate In The Town Of Greenwich.


This Means That More Greenwich Households Read The New York Times Than Read The Low Circulation Greenwich Time. The free weekly Newspapers like the Greenwich Post Actually have a higher circulation number than than Greenwich's lackluster and poorly edited daily.


So More Greenwich Voters Probably Read This In Depth New York Times Endorsement For Barack Obama Instead Of The Un-influential Greenwich Time.


Maybe, that's why Numbers show Obama could win Greenwich and be the first Democrat to win this Bush Republican Enclave since Lyndon Baines Johnson was the last Democrat atop the national ticket. Hey, even Joe" I Have To Somehow Dump This Loser McCain" Lieberman now says "I'd try to help a victorious Obama"a


Here Is What Progressive Greenwich Residents That Want To Fix Our Problems say....

Like another great candidate, Jim Himes was raised by a single mom, spent some early years out of the country (his Spanish is fluent), attended public schools and excelled at Harvard.


The similarities continue: Jim has served tirelessly in Greenwich as president of the Democratic Town Committee and a member of the Board of Estimate and Taxation, while working in New York and Norwalk for affordable housing and small business development.


Both candidates are products of the American dream and want to bring back an America where this dream is possible. Implicit in this wish is the immense gratitude and humility both have expressed for that which they have received.


Jim is a leader, a man of comprehensive vision and a pragmatic thinker. He would bring new energy and a fresh pair of eyes to the overwhelming problems we face. Having worked over 10 years in the banking industry, Jim has known for a long time that the fundamentals of the economy have been shaky, not "strong," as his opponent stated just last month.


Contrary to his opponent's views, Jim has supported appropriate regulation and oversight of the banking and investment industries, and opposed the privatization of Social Security. He has consistently opposed the Iraq war.


So here we are today: on the brink of an economic collapse, facing a housing crisis and rising health care costs and unemployment numbers; our educational system no longer the best in the world; and still we are engaged in two agonizing wars.


For too long I have felt powerless to impact what I have felt was the demise of this great country. Hope finally came to me in the names of Jim Himes and Barack Obama.


With all due respect to Mr. Shays, 21 years representing Connecticut's 4th Congressional District is just too long.


A vote for Jim Himes is a vote for change.

I don't have any inside info on the workings of Dilenschneider except he donates a lot of $ to the Diocese of Bridgeport, while at the same time thinks the Bishop is a baffoon. What I know is whenever he hosts a little gathering, those who attended remind me of the old childhood game "what's wrong with this picture?" Because the mix of folks don't seem to have any common link. And once the press starts writing, those who attended wish they hadn't.


For example, why would a guy from Darien, Dilenschneider, (registered Republican), invite Dan Malloy (big Democrat) from Stamford, and also invite Bishop William Lori, (Conservative)from Bridgeport to the same party?


Throw in Pisani, from New Haven, another Republican, and Costaregni, whose whereabouts depend on the luck of the night, and who has no party affiliation because looking for "stars in cars" is her mindless passion.


Why? Why? Why?


The library in Stamford SOLD TICKETS to a going away party for Mr. Pisani? Doesn't it seem odd that his friends didn't just throw their own party, like they did for the former newspaper owner?


This was not a tribute, this was a political ploy using town funds. Was it to drum up business for Dilenschneider's little PR firm? I doubt it. In the PR world, that firm is virtually unknown and useless. I'll have to ask my friend, who does real PR in NY, and get back to you on that.


I can only make sense out of that which appears sensible. And this isn't even close.
