Meteorologist, wife charged in domestic incident

New York City weatherman Bill Evans has reported on hurricanes, blizzards and heat waves for WABC-Channel 7 News for the past 15 years, but now he may be facing some stormy weather off the air as well. Both the Emmy-winning meteorologist and his estranged wife, Dana Evans, are facing disorderly conduct and third-degree assault charges following an altercation at their Old Greenwich home on May 4.
Married for 19 years with four children, the pair filed for divorce in May 2012......
....
In the time between the incident and the filing of the complaint, she had sought out services from a local domestic violence center, her attorney, Mark Sherman, said in a public statement.
Bill Evans, 52, was summoned to the Greenwich Police and turned himself in on Thursday to answer a warrant filed as part of the investigation. The next day Dana Evans was similarly summoned on a warrant for identical charges stemming from the same incident......

....Russell remained optimistic that a speedy resolution to the case could be reached.
"We expect that Bill will be exonerated and this case will be quickly forgotten," he said. "The Greenwich Police have informed us their investigation is continuing and we will see this process through until Bill's name is cleared."
Sherman had similarly high hopes for the outcome of Tuesday's court appearance
"Obviously divorces can get emotional," Sherman said, "and we expect Dana to be cleared of these charges in due time. The safety, privacy and welfare of her family continue to be her primary concern,"
WABC-Channel 7 News declined to comment on the personal affairs of their employee.
"We are reviewing the situation and have no further comments at this time," a WABC spokesperson said.
