All are intertwined. November is Diabetes Awareness Month

Yi Hao Yu, MD

Dr. Yu, Medical Director of the Weight Loss & Diabetes Center, is a board-certified endocrinologist. He helps people understand the connection between hormones and diabetes. His expertise is in helping diabetics transition from some of the older medications (with significant side effects) to newer medications (with minimal side effects). He works with the Center's team to help people understand how lifestyle factors also influence hormones and glucose levels for better diabetes self-management.

Gavin Pritchard, RD, CDE

Chef Gavin loves to cook healthy meals. His "In the Kitchen" cooking classes teach people to that healthy food can be delicious, easy and no more expensive than other family meals. Gavin is a registered dietitian and a certified diabetes educator and also provides "one-on-one" meal coaching and cooking sessions.

Diabetes now affects about 1 in 3 Americans. Being overweight is a significant risk factor. Other lifestyle and genetic factors come into play.
