09/12/11 Greenwich Board Of Education Press Release: September 12 WHOLE SCHOOL ceremony

The high school has planned a whole school ceremony in remembrance of 9/11. Apologies for the short notice, but you are invited to attend. Headmaster Chris Winters describes below:

On Monday, September 12, we will bring the entire GHS school community into the Student Center at 10:28. When the students arrive in the morning, all the tables and chairs will be removed. At 10:19, we will make an announcement over the PA for the Science, Art, Music and PE areas to release their classes into the Student Center. At 10:22, I will make another announcement for all remaining classes to release students into the Student Center. At 10:27, I will read a brief announcement from the Clark House steps. Will Sadock, the Student Government President, will give a 30-40 second speech. Kerry Gavin will then play Amazing Grace on the bagpipes from the top of the Media Center Stairs. We are working on getting an Honor Guard and will position them up with Kerry. Following Kerry's piece, we will have a moment of silence. At the end of the moment of silence, we have two students who will play Taps in echo-- one from the Sheldon stairs and one from the Clark Stairs. I will then dismiss the students to class. As they exit, Kerry will play another piece.
