Greenwich police now say the man found dead from suicide in the Mianus River Park is from Rye, NY, not town.

"She related that her husband frequently comes to Greenwich and rides his bicycle on the trails within the Mianus River Park," according to a press release issued by Lt. Kraig Gray, Greenwich police's public information officer. "The wife contacted the police only after her husband failed to come home at his normal hour."
Shortly after 8 p.m., members of the Greenwich Police Department, the Greenwich Fire Department, the Greenwich Emergency Medical Service and a K-9 officer from the Stamford Police Department in a coordinated effort fanned out within the park to search for the overdue person
About 90 minutes later, one of the teams located the man's body.
"It was determined that the location of the body was on the Stamford side of the park and that the Stamford Police Department would be the lead agency investigating the circumstances surrounding the apparent suicide," Gray said in the statement.

The Stamford Police Department reports that an unidentified Greenwich man was found dead inMianus River Park between 10:30 and 11 p.m. last night, having rode his mountain bike into the park and committed suicide.
"The Greenwich Police Department did a good job of tracking him down in a remote area," SPD captain Richard Conklin said. "The 53-year old Greenwich resident who frequented Mianus River Park was found hanging from a tree. It was suicide."
When the Greenwich Police Department found the man, they notified the SPD, as Mianus River Park is within SPD's jurisdiction.
"He rode his mountain bike there often, and he rode it down to where he was found. The bike was found with him," Conklin said.
SPD has not disclosed the identity of the deceased Greenwich male, as his family has not yet been notified.

Stamford police are investigating the apparent suicide of a Greenwich man whose body was found late Sunday night in Mianus River Park.
Stamford police Capt. Richard Conklin said Greenwich police found the man's body after a search by Stamford and Greenwich police.
Conklin said after the man was reported missing, police decided to search in the park because the man was an avid mountain biker.
Greenwich police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray said the call was initiated by Greenwich police, but that the man's body was found on the Stamford side of the town line, and that Stamford police would be leading the investigation.

Greenwich man commits suicide in Mianus River Park (UPDATE)
Update with corrections.
Greenwich police have identified the man whose body was found deep inside Mianus River Park over the weekend as 53-year-old James Stevens.
Initial reports had identified Stevens as a local Greenwich man, but authorities confirmed today that he lived on Seneca Street in Rye, NY.
Stevens was found hanging from a tree in the 300-acre park.

Police in both Stamford and Greenwich are investigating the death of a Greenwich man whose body was found Sunday night in the Mianus River Park.
Greenwich police began searching the park after the man, who enjoyed mountain biking in the park, was reported missing.
His body was found late Sunday night on the Stamford side of the park.
It is believed he committed suicide.
As of press time the man had not been officially identified.
