Greenwich Time History: The Last Chapter
Who in Greenwich can dispute the obvious facts. the money losing Greenwich Time's newspaper circulation is down dramatically.
But really, does anyone know an actual college kid that is home from summer vacation and will springs for the one-buck-a-day Greenwich Time print habit?
Do any newly-employed young Greenwichites of your acquaintance opt for GT Editor's David McCumber's local rag and its inky one sided "safe" stories?
An entire Greenwich generation -- the one that will determine, finally, the permanent fate of of the towns print media -- has turned its back on the medium, and never will return,
The fact of the matter is that life as we know it is changing.

The under 30 crowd do not read the Greenwich Time, but why should they?
In a digital world where information travels at the speed of light waiting to read your news in the morning paper means that you are reading old news.
No one wants to be left behind
Also who needs to lug newspapers around when everyone carries some sort of mobile device/smart phone.
Young Greenwich residents can look over several different Greenwich articles from several newspapers at Greenwich Roundup on their iPhone in the time it takes you to go downstairs and pick up the Green Kitty Liter Liner from your driveway.
Young Greenwich residents have never willingly paid money for the town's daily newspaper.
Sure, they may have stopped a few times at a Greenwich Avenue newsstand after getting out of Greenwich high School to grab one for their mother when she'd call her son on his drive home, because the family didn't waste money on a subscription to the local rag.
But never, ever, once have you seen a young Greenwich resident pay his own money to read news -- and certainly not in the Greenwich Time.

Young Greenwich residents have been reading their
news online news online since middle school
I graduated from college with a bachelor's in journalism in December and still got away with never paying a dime (or having the desire to even pay) to consume news content in print. It's just not something our generation does.
But don't get me wrong; these under 30 Greenwich residents go to Greenwich Roundup and probably consume 20-40 Greenwich articles/posts in less than an a half an hour.

The fact is that the under 30 Greenwich crowd pays $0
to read Greenwich Roundup on their iphone or ipad
Well they might have to pay a few bucks for an app.
Long story short, the Greenwich Time will go the way of the dinosaurs really quickly.
