Town developer in subpoena-evasion incident given probation

STAMFORD -- A Greenwich businessman and developer accused of using his pickup truck to evade two men who tried to serve him a subpoena was sentenced in state Superior Court Wednesday to two years of probation.

Peter Gould, 68, of 429 Taconic Road, Greenwich, was found guilty after a brief jury trial of first-degree reckless endangerment and not guilty on related assault charges.

Judge referee Martin Nigro told Gould, who walked into court in a leg brace and using crutches, that he had planned to send Gould to jail......

....On March 18, 2007, a marshal, George Ritchie, and George Christiansen, who worked with him, went to Gould's home to serve a subpoena relating to his divorce proceedings. Gould was in a pickup truck with a snowplow attached, according to the arrest warrant affidavit.

Ritchie and Christiansen told police Gould tried to drive away when he saw them walk toward his truck, in an attempt to avoid being served. While he tried to maneuver past the men, the men fell to the ground. The men had said they were struck by his truck, but there was ice and snow on the ground as well......
