Fever hits students from Western Middle School during upstate outing - Greenwich Time

....The 19 Western Middle School sixth-graders were on a trip to Nature's Classroom in Colebrook and their parents were told to bring them home, according to district officials. An additional 36 students visited the infirmary complaining of headaches and fatigue......

...."I'm concerned, especially since all those New York schools are closing," said Robert Citron, who will hold his eighth-grade son out of school today and Friday.

"I've talked to a couple of other parents and they're holding their kids out too," he said.
Officials are not doing enough to deal with the threat, he said.

"I don't think they should take it lightly. They should close that school and clean it," Citron said of Western Middle School. "Even if one kid goes to school, what's going to protect the rest of the school?"

Many Western students have siblings in other town schools, said Citron, who wondered what would stop the spread of disease throughout the district.

Citron also blasted the letter from the district alerting parents to the situation.

"It's vague and it doesn't say if they're going to do anything," he said. "They sent out a quiz with the list of symptoms ... That's not even funny."......

....Greenwich also confirmed its third case of swine flu, and the health department is preparing for a worst-case scenario with a drill to practice distributing antiviral drugs scheduled for next week.....

....As of Wednesday, there were 81 confirmed cases of swine flu in Connecticut, with 61 from Fairfield County. None of the people required hospitalization, and all have recovered or are recovering.....
