TORRINGTON — School officials confirmed Thursday that Greenwich School Superintendent Betty J. Sternberg is the fourth candidate seeking the interim superintendent's post here.
The board interviewed three candidates Wednesday night: former business manager and interim superintendent Edward Arum, former Orange superintendent Wayne Sweeney, and former Colebrook superintendent David R. Wittmer.
Acting personnel committee Chairman Brian Mattiello confirmed Thursday that Sternberg is the fourth candidate, and he is optimistic an interview can be arranged by next week.
The board is seeking an interim schools chief to take over July 1, when Acting Superintendent Barbara Campbell will return to her assistant superintendent's post.
The interim will serve until a permanent replacement is found for Susan W. O'Brien, and that search is expected to be concluded in six months.
