Amy Guerrieri and ROCKIN' WATER™ to be featured on
NBC NIGHTLY NEWS WITH BRIAN WILLIAMS
6:30 p.m., Monday, March 3

Old Greenwich's own Amy Guerrieri, owner of ROCKIN' WATER, rocked the Appalachian area of Kentucky this past week with 11 pallets (a semi-tractor trailer truck full) of donated items such as water, school supplies, clothing, diapers, formula, toys, books, and personal care products, collected through the generosity of schools, families and businesses from the community and beyond.

NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams followed this effort from Connecticut to Kentucky and will feature the story on Monday, March 30, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. (ET). The segment will most likely be on the second-half of the show, after 6:45 p.m., barring any breaking news. The show airs on Channel 4 in the New York City metropolitan area. If the segment doesn't air on Monday, it will air Tuesday.

Amy, along with Katrina Bischoff, Allison Cohen and Jenifer Howard, traveled to Martin County, Kentucky, one of the most poverty-stricken areas of the United States. Partnering with CAP - the Christian Appalachian Project, the group was able to hit the ground running - driving more than 875 miles in 2-1/2 days, visiting 12 locations that served children and families, including schools, daycare facilities, after school programs, churches, food pantries, health clinics and the only dentist serving the county for many years. In addition, the group met with and supported two families - both headed by single parent Moms who had four children each, bringing them much needed items used for day-to-day living and survival.

A special THANK YOU to everyone who participated
in this amazing outpouring of support!

What an amazing woman!!! We are so proud in this area and are embarrassed about our poverty but Amy didn't come across as someone who just wanted to take the burden of guilt off her own self. The fact that she wants to come again proves that. Because all too often people (and government) want to slap a bandaid on a huge gaping wound that just doesn't heal or make any difference. It's people like Amy that does! I'm from Hazard, Kentucky and I'm extremely proud of my heritage and where I come from and it is a little embarrassing to know we are looked upon with pity...no one likes to be pitied but at the same time "pride goeth before a fall" so we have got to let our defenses down and start letting the help come in even if it's one truck at a time. I would love to take Amy to a place in my county referred to as "Hooterville" among the locals. It's one of the poorest communities you'll ever see.
Amy, if you read this, THANK YOU!!! From the bottom of my heart, thank you!!! You renew my faith in mankind. Diana
