Confronted by an armada of angry boaters at a public hearing Wednesday night, town officials reversed the rudder on a controversial plan to impose new rules on the mooring of vessels in local waters.

The state Supreme Court has granted the town's request for more time to file its response to a police lieutenant's motion for reconsideration, which asks the court to review its recent ruling against him in a promotion lawsuit.
Health director pushing for return of coordinator
The medical community wants the town to reinstate funding for the position of public health emergency preparedness coordinator, which it says plays a vital role in planning for pandemics, immunizations, a bioterrorism attack and quarantines.
