02/23/09 Greenwich Time Sports Reporter Clueless As A Person Is Shot At Greenwich Basketball Game In Norwalk (Updated)

Gunshot wounds man at high school game

The Hour, CT

By AMANDA NORRIS

Police responding to calls of shots fired found a man shot in the leg outside of Brien McMahon High School, 300 Highland Ave., Monday at around 8:30 p.m. The victim was taken to Norwalk Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, according to Sgt. Bruce Hume.

Hume said the victim was still walking when officers responded, and no description of the suspect or suspects had been provided as of 9 p.m.

Police cruisers lined the front of the school as students and gamegoers left the gymnasium after the conclusion of a basketball game against Greenwich High School. Police cordoned off the south exit of the front side of the building.

The father of a Brien McMahon student said he was in the hallway near the exit when he heard a single gunshot but that he did not see any suspects. He also said the victim was in his early 20s and may have been related to a coach at the high school.

UPDATE:

NORWALK-- A young man was shot Monday evening outside the entrance to Brien McMahon High School's gymnasium, just after the school's boy's basketball team lost 62-39 to Greenwich High School.

Norwalk Police Sgt. Bruce Hume said the unidentified victim was shot once in the left leg by a small-caliber automatic weapon. He was taken to Norwalk Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"I don't know if he was here for the game or it was related to the game, " Hume said, referring to the shooting, which occurred just before 8:30 p.m.
Police recovered a shell casing at the scene.

02/23/09 Greenwich Resident Who Killed Stamford Man Arrested In Florida

William Paul Lindemann was indicted on fraud charges in 1997 after a federal investigation in Brooklyn, N.Y., linked him to an insurance scheme involving organized crime

STAMFORD POLICE GET THEIR KILLER

Naplesnews.com

A North Naples man was arrested Friday and is awaiting extradition to Connecticut after authorities there say that in late January he assaulted a 78-year-old man who later died of a head injury.

Collier County sheriff’s deputies arrested William Paul Lindemann, 47, in the parking lot of his home at 425 Dockside Drive, No. 406, down the road from the Pelican Isle Yacht Club in North Naples. He was arrested on a Connecticut warrant for simple assault on a victim 60 or older, a first-degree felony.

"We’ll be meeting with prosecutors to determine if there will be an upgrade in charges," said Capt. Richard Conklin of the Stamford Police Department. Police are treating the case as a homicide.

Conklin said that on Jan. 27, Lindemann assaulted 78-year-old Herbert Davison outside a Stamford restaurant. Davison suffered head injuries as a result, and was transported to a local hospital where he died on Sunday.

An arrest report lists Lindemann as 6 feet 2 inches tall and 200 pounds. Records also show that Lindemann has a home in Greenwich, Conn.........

Herbert Davision died of his injuries Sunday at Stamford Hospital, his son said. He turned 79 Feb. 15, while in a coma.

The charge likely will be upgraded now that Davison has died, police said.

My Soul Knows Things
By Herbert Davison
"At the end of your voyage, of your Stygian ride
Heed not the ebb tides with the death of the light -
dark rises shadows in the pond of the dead -
Of people like us, loved ones whom you left behind,
Lest you torture yourself those long days and restless nights.
But in the full moon, when the earth swims in static,
On those Tuesday nights when our club is alive,
Climb to the granite hills and look up to the sky.
In every star is the face of a poet,
In each breath of the wind is a poem.
Within our hearts there is sorrow,
Within our minds there is a word of wonder.
Even when you don't hear our electric comments to celebrate the spirits as we orbit,
The simple in life, our passion for poetry - to which you gave your life,
I know you are sure we speak of you as though you never left us,
Because your 'soul knows things,' like mine."

02/23/09 PRESS RELEASE: David Beck Of Greenwich's Wealth Management Exchange Announces "Wealth Forum"

Wealth Forum 2009 Announced To Help High Net Worth Investors Find Ways To Preserve Their Wealth and Estates Despite the Financial Crisis and New Estate Taxes

GREENWICH, CT -- The Wealth Forum 2009 (www.WealthForum2009.com) is a one day conference to help high net worth investors and their financial and estate advisors to adjust to the new financial and tax realities in order to preserve their wealth and estates, in light of current investment risks and evolving estate and inheritance taxes. The event will be held April 1, 2009 at the Yale Club in NY.

According to conference co-chairman Wayne Cooper "Like many of you, I have learned the hard way that having money creates its own set of problems. With the severe recession, a new administration in Washington, and many other changes taking place, many of us need to revisit key decisions we have made, such as how we protect, invest and even give away our money. The context today is very different from when we originally made many of these decisions. There are plenty of advisors out there more than willing to help us, but which ones can we trust? While some advisors have real expertise and uphold the highest ethical standards, others do not."

Get the answers you need to successfully navigate in these dangerous times when you register to attend Wealth Forum 2009. It's one of the smartest and safest investments you can make right now.

At this one-day event you will:

• Profit from predictions by top experts on what they think will happen in the financial markets—including stocks, bonds, hedge funds, real estate, private equity and alternative investments—and how you may want to adapt your investment strategies as a result.

• Protect your estate by learning what other savvy investors are doing about advisor reviews and oversight, diversification and re-allocation decisions, and risk management strategies.

• Preserve more of your estate from income and estate taxes when you learn about impending tax law changes and some smart tax saving moves you should implement before the laws take effect.

At Wealth Forum 2009, you'll also have time to network with your peers—other like-minded investors who are struggling with similar issues and who, like you, have questions and concerns about the best way to protect their investments. Exchange ideas about what's working—and what's not—and share best practices that could help you better manage your portfolio and your estate.

You'll also have the opportunity to exchange ideas with top advisors from other wealth management disciplines: investment advisors, private bankers, alternative investment managers, CPAs, trust and estate attorneys, family office executives, and more. It's your opportunity to learn from some of the brightest minds in wealth management today.

Confirmed speakers include:

Sam Stovall, Chief Economist, Standard & Poors
Michael Santoli, Columnist, Barron's
Johnathan Rikoon, Chair, Trusts & Estates, Debevoise & Plimpton
Richard Kohan, Partner, PriceWaterhouseCoopers
John Skjervem, SVP, Northern Trust
John Benevides, President, Family Office Exchange

You'd pay thousands in fees for a consultation with just one of these speakers. But at Wealth Forum 2009, you'll get advice from these and 12 other experts, all for one low registration fee of only $795. And your satisfaction is guaranteed.

The event is produced by Wealth Management Exchange (http://www.wealthmanagementexchange.com/ ) and Wealth Manager and Investment Advisor Magazines, and is sponsored by Barron's Magazine, Trusts & Estates Magazine and The NY Society of Securities Analysts.

Because of the exclusive nature of this event, seating is limited, so don't delay. Register today to make sure you don't miss this important event..

02/22/29 LOOK OUT BELOW: Greenwich Real Estate Could Fall Even Further

Luxury Manhattan Real Estate Could Fall Another 50% - Barron's

Even Barron’s, which forecast in November a New York real estate decline, seems surprised by the velocity of NYC’s luxury market crash. Sales were down 40% while prices declined 20% in Q408. Look out, says Barron’s Leslie P. Norton: High end NYC apartments and townhouses could fall by another 30%-50% and recovery will be protracted.

Two years into a nationwide downturn, NY is just starting to feel housing pain. Yet feel it it is as the city faces a perfect storm of harder-to-get “super-jumbo” ($650K+) loans, higher down payment and credit score requirements, disappearing Wall St. jobs and a glut of condo conversions. Purported housing bubble inflators such as foreign buyers and hedge fund managers have retreated. Even the merely affluent are feeling stock market shock.

The average Manhattan apartment still costs $1.6 million, while top apartments are going for as high as $65-80 million. Yet high-end inventory rose 65% in Q408 even as ultra luxe residential projects like the refurbished Plaza Hotel cut prices. Condo conversions city-wide are barely selling.

Manhattan 'burbs offered no shelter:

Greenwich, Conn. and Westchester, NY, for example, saw a 30%+ drop in sales......

....Nick Gogerty figures out that a reversion to the mean could cause Manhattan real estate prices to decline by 60% within 12-18 months.
