In early summer of 1938, Former Congressman Schuyler Merritt of Stamford, in the white pants, was on hand to assist Greenwich First Selectman Eugene S. Loughlin, to his right, at the ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the Merritt Parkway in Greenwich.
