Name Changing Ceremony in support of Nicki Markley

November 17, 2011

Dear Friends:

I am writing to ask for your prayers in support of a cherished member of our congregational family.

An ancient Jewish custom is to change a person's Hebrew name when they are confronted by a serious health challenge. As many in our community are aware, Nicki Markley was involved in a terrible car accident. During this week's Sunday morning Minyan (8:30 AM - 9:15 AM) we will observe the custom of Shinui HaShem and offer special prayers of healing on her behalf.

Nicki's family invites you to join us as able, and if you are not able to attend, we ask that you please offer privately your own prayers.

Due to her medical challenges, Nicki's family requests that there be no visitors at this time, and that communications take place with cards only. Additionally, any inquiries may be made with me directly, and I will facilitate with the family as they request.

Thank you for your support as we pray that Nicki will be restored to renewed health and vigor, and that God will grant her both physical and spiritual healing.

With blessings for a Refuah Shleimah,

Rabbi Mitch
