Walk on Water 2009! WOW
supports Shake-A-Leg, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, whose Adaptive Sailing Program brings the benefits of sailing to people with physical and developmental disabilities.Rob Mathes at Piano The event honors Elsa Johnson, a friend of Joyce Clear (Clear Group International), who lives an incredibly independent and active life, although she has a neurological disease that confines her to a wheelchair.

Walk on Water 2009! visitors will be inspired by disabled sailors such as Paul Callahan, CEO of Shake-A-Leg and ranked the #1 disabled sailor in the USA and a Paralympics medalist. The donated sailboat, the Easterner, is a classic 12-Metre which competed in three America's Cup trials, and has been retrofitted by Shake-A-Leg. It is the largest sailboat ever to be raced with a disabled crew against able-bodied, professional sailors, culminating in the 12-Metre World Championship this September in Newport, RI. This is a first not only in sailing, but also in the history of sports.
