Boys and Girls Club visits pumpkin patch
Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich took 40 Club kids to a pumpkin patch trip at Sam Bridge Nursery in Greenwich on Monday, October 13. Kyle Kelly, 8, was overjoyed with his choice of pumpkin. “As a youth-centered organization, the Club staff works hard to create positive moments for children to interact with role models and peers in a safe environment,” said Don Palmer, operations director.
Friends raise money for farm for the autistic
Marjorie and Rick Fuscone hosted the Friends of Autistic People’s Benefit Party “Fun on the Farm” at their home in Conyers Farm on Sept. 25.
The benefit was held to raise funds to build “The Farm Living and Learning Academy, a Village” an organic therapeutic farm which will provide residential and day services for grown children with autism. ABC-TV senior meteorologist Bill Evans was the emcee for the event and also conducted a live auction with much verve.
Sound Beach Firehouse holds open house
The Sound Beach Volunteer Fire Department will be holding its annual open house on Sunday, Oct.19, from 10 to 2. All are welcome.
State assures those in foreclosure they can vote
Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz today said thousands of Connecticut residents recently victimized by the sub-prime lending crisis that they will not be denied the right to vote if they have lost their homes due to foreclosure. Recent national news reports indicate voters who have lost homes due to foreclosure may be disenfranchised in some states if their residency or registration status is challenged on Election Day.
Riverside School hosts tag sale
More than 20 families will participate in a tag sale on the Riverside School front lawn tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 18, from 9 to 11 a.m.. The proceeds from the "green"-themed sale will go toward production of the fifth grade yearbook.

Stress can be a helpful tool in our lives. It makes us more awake, more determined to get our work done, and gets our blood pumping a little bit. But while a little stress is good, too much can wreak havoc on our state of mind and body. For high school students, especially juniors and seniors preparing for college, stress has become the norm in our everyday lives.

Out there ... A Toast and Roast Dinner to honor Joe Pisani, columnist for the Greenwich Post, and former editor of The Advocate and Greenwich Time, takes place this Sunday at the Hyatt in Old Greenwich. The evening will feature a 5 p.m. cocktail hour and dinner at 6, followed by a roast hosted by dignitaries and colleagues of Mr. Pisani.
