09/24/08 Greenwich Post To Close Early. Will Anyone Notice? The Greenwich Citizen Has Not Updated It's Web Site For Five Days. Did Anybody Miss Them?




The Greenwich Post office will be open a half-day tomorrow, noon to 5. Staffers are attending a meeting at our headquarters. The Greenwich High School football team was unable to stop a high-powered attack from Darien High School Saturday afternoon, as the Blue Wave stunned the Cards 31-25 for its first victory over the school in 10 years.


Darien came out firing, taking a 24-7 lead into halftime, however Big Red didn't fold up.

The League of Women Voters of Greenwich is sponsoring a candidates’ debate between the Democratic and Republican candidates for three races on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 6:15 p.m. in the Town Hall Meeting Room.




The Selectmen’s Nominations Advisory Committee, which assists the Board of Selectmen in finding volunteers for the town’s boards and commissions, is looking for people interested in serving in town government. For more information, visit Greenwichct.org.




The Short Bus, a Greenwich-based band consisting of Greenwich High School graduates and residents, has won the Fairfield Weekly voters poll for the third straight year, as well as Greenwich Magazine’s “Best of the Gold Cost” voter’s poll for the second straight year.




As much as traditions have held firm in so many ways in the century that Brunswick School has been educating boys, the school and the students have seen many changes.The school that began with 14 students and two teachers now boasts about 900 students, two campuses and academic programs ranging from Latin to biotechnology.


However, for years now, the one thing parents and students have said they want more of is a facility for the arts.


That wish came true this school year as the halls at Brunswick School came alive with the sound of music and the sights of art with a brand new arts wing and state-of-the-art theater.




The Pemberwick-Glenville Association will hold its fall meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center from 6:30 to 9 p.m.




Cynthia Barnett will discuss retirement planning in “Primetime Makeover: Learn How to Make the Rest of Your Life the Best of Your Life,” at the YWCA of Greenwich gallery on Thursday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m.

Barbara Jane Munson died Monday, Sept. 22, at Stamford Hospital. Mrs. Munson, 78, was mother of Greenwich residents Betsy Mazza and her husband, Robert, and JoAnne Catalano and her husband, Robert.
