Weekly Teaching by Rabbi Mitch Last week, as part of our Sholom Center for Interfaith Learning and Fellowship, I had the opportunity to present to the "Men on Fire" bible study group at Christ Church. The topic was on the "Original Power Couple of Faith - Abraham and Sarah." While the Hebrew Scriptures offers few details about Biblical characters, there is a genre of rabbinic literature called midrash that serves to fill in the gaps. A plethora of rabbinic legends exist on Abraham and Sarah, some that are so commonly told that many Jews don't even know that these particular stories are not actually part of the Biblical canon itself.
