Press Release
STEVE D’AGOSTINO TO PERFORM AT ROGER SHERMAN BALDWIN PARK
The Department of Parks and Recreation announces that Steve D’Agostino will be performing at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park on Wednesday, July 22 from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM.
Steve D’Agostino has been performing for more than 20 years the songs from The Great American Songbook with an emphasis on the era from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin and Tony Bennett. Steve began his musical training quite young. At the age of 8 he studied guitar and jazz guitar with Tony Perone and Sal Salvador. By the age of 14 Steve was playing guitar with the University of Bridgeport Big Band called Collage under the direction of Gary Riggerio.
Singing began at the age of 16 with his first band called Finesse back in the early 80’s where Steve transitioned from playing guitar to vocalists. Steve’s smooth phrasing on ballads and swinging style has taken him from coast to coast performing in Las Vegas at the Paris Casino Hotel to Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Ct.
Steve maintains the tradition of this music today adding his own flair without impersonating any of the great artists that came before him. Many say that he sounds like a cross between Sinatra and Darin.
Now is your chance to see this great performer in your own backyard in Greenwich.
Bring your family, a blanket, and a picnic dinner and enjoy a wonderful night of music under the stars.
Other Wednesday night performances are:
July 29 – Gunsmoke - Country
August 5 – Bearcats - Jazz
August 12 – In Harmony – 50’s & 60’s Do Wop
For more information please visit our website at www.greenwichct.org, or call 622-7830.

07/06/09 MEDIA ALERT:Greenwich Diva News -The Harvest
"The Harvest," a must see documentaryPosted in July 6th, 2009 Last week, I had the pleasure of attending an intimate cocktail reception hosted by actress Eva Longoria and her basketball husband Tony Parker, to view a documentary film about children migrant workers. About 50 guests, including special guest, former President Bill Clinton, viewed a trailer of the upcoming film, The Harvest, which tells a story about migrant workers from an adolescent perspective. The film, which is produced by Longoria and Shine Global, follows five children between the ages of 12 and 16, who labor in fields and factories to feed us, lacking the protections offered by the Fair Labor Standards Act that protects ALL other American children. President Clinton spoke about child labor and education in the U.S and Haiti, and said a film like "The Harvest" will bring awareness to an important subject. I had an opportunity to speak with Longoria who told me there are children as young as eight working the fields every day, and there are times when many are too tired to focus on schoolwork that most drop out before their sixteen birthday. Longoria informed me that these kids are BORN U.S citizens who are protected by our labor laws from working at McDonalds but not from working in the fields. The actress said in addition to working with politicians to change the laws, we can protect these kids by buying ORGANIC fruits and vegetables from our local supermarket or buy fruits and vegetables from farmers markets where children are not used. The film should be completed by the ending of this year, and I would like to encourage everyone to see it when it's released. Shine Global, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) film production company dedicated to ending the abuse and exploitation of children worldwide through the production of documentary films and other media that raise social awareness and affect political change. You can donate to Shine Global so that they can continue to make documentaries like this by sending a check to: Shine Global, Inc. 225 Midland Avenue Montclair, NJ 07042 All donations are tax-deductible.
