His face is familiar to three generations of Greenwich gardeners now. Sam Bridge, 93, and his nursery on North Street has grown and sold much of the greenery and color that graces Greenwich landscapes

On Saturday, Bridge was honored by First Selectman Peter Tesei and the Green Fingers Garden Club at its 41st Preview of Spring flower show at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall with a "Certificate of Appreciation." Bridge served as honorary chairman of the biannual event.

"He has educated us all, woken us to the wonders he sees in horticulture and allowed us to create beauty in brand new places," read Tesei," For decades, he has participated in countless civic projects that have benefited us all. For that, Mr. Bridge, we say, thank you."......
