06/14/11 Delman's Pussy Footing Gets Slammed By The RTM

Despite Evan Delman's Plea To Postpone Police Contract, RTM Approves Contract And Three Other Union Contracts

Evan Delman of the RTM’s Town Services committee said his committee had intended to vote on the contracts, but “was informed that no action was the best action at this time, for reasons I won’t go into.” He then made the motion to postpone the vote on the police contract to September.

That led to outcry from numerous RTM members who felt that the body should proceed with the vote.

Jim Boutelle of District 8, who has been on the RTM for a number of years, said he believes all the parties involved in the contract negotiations “have done their work” carefully on the contracts, and urged his fellow RTM members to follow through with a vote.

“I think for us to postpone this to September, which is basically ducking a vote, is irresponsible on the part of this body,” Boutelle said. “I didn’t get elected to the RTM to dodge votes. I’ve heard RTM members joke during the budget season that the best approach to the budget process should be ‘we need more zeros’ or ‘oh no it’s good the way it is.’ Well, tonight’s your night to vote, one way or the other. If you want to send a message on the budget and you think the contracts are negotiated too high, then have the guts to say so.”

“I feel that when we have a reasonably negotiated contract between our town and our unions, we should vote on it, not duck it,” Boutelle added. “So vote on the four contracts — or in my opinion don’t run for re-election.”

Police Sgt. James Bonney, president of the Silver Shield Association, and also an RTM member from District 4, said the association made many concessions in the negotiations. “We wanted to show you we were willing to help,” he said. “Almost every point the town asked for, we gave on.” At the same time, though, the association wanted the town police department “to stay competitive with the other markets, so we get good officers here,” he said. “We don’t want to have the worst benefits in the area, because then we won’t get good cops. I feel that we gave enough to suit the town, and we gave enough to suit the association. I hope that you will approve this … ”

Joan Caldwell, RTM member District 10, said she was determined to vote, not postpone, because it was the right thing to do on behalf of her constituents.

“I came to the town meeting because I wanted to do something for my town,” she said. “That includes approving and disapproving contracts. I’ve never walked away from one and I’m not going to do that tonight.”

“What does rejecting or postponing this do for us?” she continued. “We have 14 items on the agenda tonight and we already postponed four. And now we’re talking about postponing four more. I don’t think that rejecting or postponing these contracts sends the message that some of us want to send … but for those of you who want to send that message, then let’s send it!”

12/27/10 Dim Witted Doctor Delman Wastes Town Time In Call To Throw The Book At Phone Directory Publishers

Maybe Someone Should Give Evan Delman A Chiropractic Adjustment To Head So That He Would Be Able To Understanding That There Is Some Things Called The Constitution, The Bill Of Rights And Freedom Of Speech.

White Plains chiropractor and thin skinned Riverside busybody Even Delman DC says he wants the town's legislators to throw the book at telephone directory publishers.

Ever since the first telephone directory, consisting of a single piece of cardboard, was issued on February 21, 1878; they've been the best weathermen. They always seem to get delivered when it's going to rain.

That first telephone directory was published in New Haven and it listed 50 local businesses that had a telephone.

Now Dimwitted Doctor Evan Delman, wants the Greenwich Representative Town Meeting to legislate distributors of telephone books and require them comply to some sort a centralized unconstitutional local opt-out mechanism in Greenwich.

Dimwitted Doctor Delman is able to waste the RTM's valuable time, because he collected signatures from 20 people, out of a town with a population of over 61,000 residents.

Earlier this fall Delman collected the 20 signatures that enabled him to present the concept to the full 230-member Greenwich RTM.

His anti-freedom of speech idea was presented to the Greenwich legislators who referred the proposal to its Legislative and Rules Committee, where it will die and keep the town from being sued by telephone directory and newspaper publishers.

"I am seeking to basically -- you know how there's a do not call list for telemarketers -- to have a do not deliver list," Doctor Delman said. "I was tired of receiving phone books and newspapers."

Maybe, someone should refer the dimwitted doctor to a local TEA Party meeting, so they can explain to him that there is something called the First Amendment to the constitution.

Or, maybe someone should tell Delman that a municipal ordinance in Seattle requiring phone book publishers to pay a $100 licensing fee and a 40-cent tax for every directory distrubuted, as well as abide by an opt-out registry created by the city, is being challenged in U.S. District Court by several Yellow Pages Association members on free speech grounds. This has already cost Seattle close to $500,000.

As part of the research on Delman's tiny 20 signature phone book petition, the Town of Greenwich paid attorney Eugene McLaughlin Jr. to speak with the corporation counsel for a publisher that belongs to the Yellow Pages Association, who mentioned that there already is an opt-out feature on the group's website that Doctor Delman can use.

So the question is, do we really need Doctor Delman's anti-free speech local ordinance?

Instead of running around being a busy body collecting 20 signatures and taking up the RTM's valuable time all Delman had to do was go to the trade group's web site and opt out of receiving phone books

Among other questions the dimwitted chiropractor forgot to consider was enforcement.

Is this going to be too much of a load for the police department?

"Hello, 911. This is thin skinned Doctor Delman and I need you to send out a squad car, because AT&T just delivered a phone book to my house."

Doctor Delman's proposal still is going to take up valuable time on the January agenda of the RTM's Legislative and Rules Committee.

Greenwich attorney Douglas Wells, who is the committee's chairman, has already questioned the need for Delman's proposed ordinance.

"Clearly, we don't need the town to be involved in another lawsuit if the industry is already taking care of this in a reasonable way on its own," attorney Douglas Wells said.

Another set question for Dimwitted Doctor Delman is ...

Who is going to pay for the local opt out phone book system and how much will it cost?

How many town employees will have to be hired to create and maintain the local opt out phone book system?

In these tough economic times just what town services will need to be cut back to pay for Dimwitted Delman's anti-constitutional local opt out phone book system?

Talk about your unintended consequences from Even Delman's 20 signature petition.

Maybe Doctor Delman should focus on his White Plain's Chriropractic office and forget about being a phone book busy body in Greenwich.

08/31/10 Birds Of A Feather Flock Together - Taking A Look At Congressman Jim Himes And His Wanna-Be Dan Debicella

The Greenwich Time's Niel Vigdor Tries To Give Us Some Thoughtful Political Analysis, But Comes Up Short.

Third Rate Political Analyst Wanna-Be Niel Vigdor Certainly Is Not A Ken Dixon Or A Brian Lockhart ......

Tell me who you walk with, and I’ll tell you who you are

We put U.S. Rep. Jim Himes, D-Conn., on the spot Friday about President Obama’s September fundraising trip to Connecticut.

“The president is always welcome in Fairfield County,” Himes said to Hearst Connecticut Newspapers via e-mail.

Himes’ comment is 180-degrees from a warning to Obama not to come here by former Connecticut Democratic Party Chairman John Droney, who suggested that the visit could be a liability for the candidates during a taping of the WFSB-Channel 3 Sunday talk show “Face the State.”

But Himes did not say whether he will be at Obama’s side for the upcoming fundraiser, which a Himes aide might conflict with the congressional vote schedule.

State Sen. Dan Debicella, R-Conn., who is challenging the freshman Himes, is hoping to feast on the issue.....

Now Here Is What Third Rate Greenwich Time Political Analyst Niel Vigdor Would Tell You If He Had A Pair Of Journalistic Balls ....

Shelton Resident Dan "No I Really Am A Moderate" Debicella Seeks Support From Connecticut Tea Party Radicals

In 2009, Connecticut Tea Party supporters like Al Alper, Cathy Grippi and failed Republican primary candidate Rob "I Got High And Forgot To Vote" Merkle united around a belief the federal government has exceeded its constitutionally delineated powers and threatens American freedoms.

A CBS News poll released in April 2010, Tea Party supporters tended to be white, male, married and older than age forty-five.

Nearly 9 in 10 disapprove of President Obama’s performance, and 92% believe the President is moving the country toward socialism.

Other polls have shown that a significant number of these tea party radicals also believe that President Obama is a secret Muslim, That President Obama is not really american and that 9/11 was an inside job.

It is no surprise that these radical Connecticut Tea Partiers members harbor a fierce animosity towards incumbents. Supporters classify themselves in opinion polls as not simply “dissatisfied”, but instead, “angry” with incumbents.

Polls reveal the same holds true for these radical Connecticut Tea Party members have the same views about elected officials at the state and local level.

Many of these wrong headed Connecticut Tea Party radicals believe the President Obama's priorities are disproportionately weighted to aiding the poor at the expense of the middle class and wealthier Americans.

At least 25% think that President Obama is a racist who favors blacks over whites, compared with 11% of the general public.

Some of these radical tea party activists like Al Alper have been registering tea party names, setting up local web sites and organizing a small band of radicals that hold little street protests in hopes of starting a third Connecticut political party.

Yet, Alpers dreams of being the Connecticut Tea Party chairman, when all of his supported canidates went down in flames.

Radical Tea Party members, like Al Alpert, have an

ultimate goal is to create a national Tea Party, much like Billionaire Ross Perot's short lived national Reform Party in 1992.

This movement has become a daily talking point on twenty-four hour talk radio and cable network shows,

and laid claim to some recent, high-profile events where a megalomaniac named Glen Beck took over the Lincoln Memorial as others came to honor Martin Luther King.

This movement has been in the headlines for about a year, and candidates like Dan Debicella, is hedging his congressional election bet by capitalizing on the Tea Party name in Connecticut.

Debicella tapped into the Tea Party’s appearance of political voltage by portraying slaming the typical country-club Republican's of Greenwich.

Moderate mainstream Republican avoid going to a Dan Debicella event, because they are afraid that

Merle Haggard’s 1969 hit “I’m An Okie from Muskogee” will twang through the public address system as Debicella attendees shout “Chuck Schumer is a terrorist!!!!!"

Debicella has warned us that hundreds of “violent-criminal-illegal immigrants” were pouring over the U.S. border with Mexico.

Any day now, one expects desperate Dan Debicella to try and claim this

claim to represent “the awakening of the silent tea party majority" by saying something stupid like .....

“Just give me a school bus and a big ole gun, and let’s go down to the Greenwich Hospital Emergency Rooms and the places in Stamford where those Mexican's stand out for work and just round them up.”

Don't forget that Dan Debicella is the incumbent politician and insurance company executive has

repeatedly sided with insurance companies voting against nearly all senators to deny coverage for prosthetics, hearing aids for children, and treatments to help cancer patients find bone marrow donors.

Debicella was one of four senators to side with insurance companies against deaf children.

Twice Debicella was one of two votes against requiring coverage of bone marrow treatments designed to expand the National Bone Marrow Registry that helps match cancer patients with donors.

Dan Debicella has the worst environmental record of any Connecticut state senator in the past decade, according to Connecticut’s League of Conservation Voters.

Dan Debicella voted to deny emergency contraception to victims of rape.

In 2007, Dan Debicella was one of three senators to vote against a bill requiring all Connecticut hospitals to offer emergency contraception to rape victims.

Moderate Greenwich Republican candidates like Linda McMahon and Tom Foley wont com with in 10 miles of a radical Connecticut Tea Party or Dan Debicella.

The facts are the facts ...... 35% Of Connecticut's Republicans live in lower Fairfield County and there base is Greenwich, Connecticut Which is socially moderate. Greenwich Republican Representatives and Senators would never vote to deny hearing aids to children.

Greenwich Republicans refer to themselves as "Compassionate Conservatives" and often reject wrong head right wing radicals.

Debicella's desire to jump on the band wagon of the New Right” is turning of Greenwich Republican's who view the out of town Tea Party members as the modern version of the John Birch Society and part of a larger, reactionary drift in American politics.

One Must Judge Dan Debicella By The Company That He Seeks Out ....

VIDEO: The John Birch Society in 1958, Forerunner of the Tea Party Movement?

Just One More Thing....

Barack Obama IS NOT A Socialist,
But Jeasus Christ WAS A Socialist......

Jesus was the very first Socialist.
Got your attention with that statement, didn’t I?

Jesus was the first Socialist, this isn’t really a question, but a statement of fact based upon the New Testament Bible.

In fact it is an interesting phenomenon that those who are most vocal in their rejection of social programs to assist the poor and displaced of our society are the very same who in most cases espouse Christian values as the basis of their political stance.

Mark Chapter 10:21-25:

21Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” 22At this the man's face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth. 23Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!” 24The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! 25It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

Here we have a very good example of Utopian Socialism in action with Jesus telling the wealthy young man the only way to follow him and gain heaven was to give away his great wealth to the poor,

in other words redistribution of personal wealth to those with great need from those with great riches. Naturally, this must be very difficult for some to swallow, notice that the young mans face ‘fell’ when told he must give away his wealth to follow Jesus.

Matthew 25:31-46:
The Parable of the Sheep and the Goats

41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' 44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ 45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’46"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life”.

Jesus' brother James also seemed to be a Utopian Socialist being

James 2:1-7:

1My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don't show favoritism.2Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in. 3If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, "Here's a good seat for you," but say to the poor man, "You stand there" or "Sit on the floor by my feet," 4have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? 5Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him? 6But you have insulted the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court? 7Are they not the ones who are slandering the noble name of him to whom you belong?

Providing for the weakest members of society should be a given rather than a fight. Just as a purely Socialist economy is not sustainable neither is a purely Capitalist driven economy as we have ample proof of today in the United States.

So I say again, Jesus was the first Socialist. Perhaps all those who shout from their pulpits and their soapboxes about their moral right to gain riches on the backs and at the cost of others should check their premise. While they are pointing fingers and calling names, perhaps they should read the book they claim that they are standing upon.

The Question Is Not "What Would Jesus Do?"

The Question Is "What Should You Do?"

Dan Debicella Voted To Deny Children Access To Hearing Aids

Would You Or Jesus Do That?

Receiving a child into your arms in the name of Jesus is a way to receive Jesus. And receiving Jesus is a way to receive God. Therefore how we deal with children is a signal of our fellowship with God.

When Jesus saw that his disciples were arguing over which of them was the greatest, “He sat down and called the twelve. . . .And he took a child and put him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them,

‘Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.’” (Mark 9:34-37).

According to the scripture Jesus healed thousands of people, from the officials dying son, to the leper, the paralyzed man, the blind man at Bethsaida etc etc...

Jesus never turned anyone away because of a pre-existing condition. He never sent anyone insurmountable bills that ultimately led to financial futility. He never rationed healthcare to those who could afford it, while excluding those who could not,

Jesus taught us that healthcare was not a luxury, it was simply the Christian thing to do.

In fact, healing is a constitutive element of Jesus’ ministry. His first miracles in the Gospel of Mark are casting a demon from a man and healing a woman with a fever. In the whole of the gospels, there are 41 distinct stories of physical or mental healing. Jesus heals the blind, cures the withered hand and stops the bleeding.

He called his followers to do the same. Jesus instructed his disciples to go into towns and “cure the sick who are there” (Luke 10:9).

Jesus would not say don't help that sick illegal alien living and working in Byram section of Greenwich.
