03/09/10 Greenwich Roundup Recieves Some Advice

Subject: Scanning technique

Thank you for providing P & Z staff reports.

A few simple steps would greatly improve the readability of your service.

1. Take time to xerox pages straight.

2. Do not scan to jpeg format - this is for photos. Use 1-bit Tiff for black and white text at 300 dpi. My most scanner software can output pdf format directly. Crop before saving.

3. Use Adobe Professional to organize, straighten, make text searchable, and publish an optimized binder as a single pdf file.

4. Please take the time to proofread your copy before posting.

5. Dial back the rhetoric, and give just the facts in a more objective tone.

6. I don't mind the editorializing. Just try to keep it separated a little.

Comment:

Thank You For The Valuable Feedback

Almost All Of Your Points Are Very Valid.

You Are 100% Right That Greenwich Roundup Needs To Be More Readable And Professional If It Is Going To Continue Growing.

For Months This Blog Has Plateaued And Been Stuck In The 1,200 To 2,800 Daily Unique Visitors Range.

This Number Doesn't Count The Hundreds That Read Greenwich Roundup Through News Readers And Social Networking Sites.

However, Both Numbers Would Be Growing Faster If Greenwich Roundup Had A More Professional Appearance.

On Point #1 It Is The P And Z Employees Who Don't Take The Time To Xerox The Pages Straight.

On Point #2. You Are Correct That The Jpeg Format Is For Photos. You Are Also Correct That A The Tiff Format Would Be Perfect For The Black And White Text, But Blogger Only Accepts Jpeg, Gif, Png And Bmp Images.

On Point #3 You Are Correct That Greenwich Roundup Should Just Make A Single Pdf File And Post It With In The Blog Post.

Greenwich Roundup May Start Using A Service That Will Host PDF's And Let Me Show The PDF In The Blog Posts.

On Point #4 It Is True That Greenwich Roundup Needs To Start Taking The Time To Proofread The Copy Before Posting.

This Is The Biggest Single Complaint About Greenwich Roundup.

Greenwich Roundup Is Legally Blind In One Eye And The Right Eye Has Low Vision And Is Crossed. This Causes Numerous Errors.

Things Are Made Worse, Because Greenwich Roundup Can't Type. He Hunts And Pecks With One Finger On The Key Board.

Sometimes It Takes Hours To Create Just One Post And Often An Exhausted Greenwich Roundup Can't Resist Hitting The Publish Button Before All Corrections Are Made.

Greenwich Roundup Can Correct The Blogger Post If He Finds Errors. He Can Also Correct Errors On The Greenwich Topix Message Board.

However, Once He Hits Publish Button There Are Hundreds Of Persons Who Read Greenwich Roundup Through RSS Readers And Social Networking Sights Like Myspace And They Will Only See The Original Post Filled With Errors.

There Have Been Greenwich Roundup Readers Who Have Also Agreed With Your Point #5. Many Greenwich Roundup Readers Want The Facts In A More Objective Tone.

For The Record, There Have Been Many Wealthy Individuals And Corporations, Including Hearst Newspapers That Have Hired High Priced Lawyers To Come After Greenwich Roundup And His Highly Charged Rhetoric.

But In Each And Every Case The Lawyers Backed Down, Because Greenwich Roundup Had The Facts To Backup His Posts.

Around Town Hall And At The Greenwich Board Of Education Greenwich Roundup Is Known As A Freedom Of Information Nut.

Many Of Greenwich Roundup's Sources Are Very Well Healed And Like Hiding Behind The Wacky Rhetoric At Greenwich Roundup.

These Sources Enjoy The Fact That No One In Their Right Mind Would Even Dare To Suggest That They Are Involved In Disclosing Sensitive Information To The Public Via Greenwich Roundup.

Lastly On Point 6 You Are Correct That Greenwich Roundup Should Separated The Editorializing From The P And Z Staff Reports.

The Staff Reports Should Stand On There Own As Public Documents And Any Editorializing Should Be In A Separate Post.

Greenwich Roundup Does Not Editorialize On Government And Non-Profit Press Releases And Therefore Should Also Let The P And Z Staff Reports Stand On Their Own.

It Took Greenwich Roundup A While To Get Access To The P And Z Staff Reports.

Greenwich Roundup Had To Wait For The Town Law Department To Rule That He Could Receive The Same Materials That The Other Town News Outlets Get.

So When Greenwich Roundup Got The P And Z Staff Reports He Was So Excited He Immediately Started Editorializing About Each Report.

Thank You For The Feedback, Greenwich Roundup Will SLOWLY Start Making Some Changes.

03/09/10 Peter Tesei Did The Right Thing: What About The Rest Of Us At Town Hall?

Thirty five people were fired without warning and escorted out of the building by armed detectives with uniformed police officers swarming the lobby.

When long serving town employees are escorted out of the building at gun point, who is to say that one disgruntled person might not come back with his own gun and take revenge on the person who orchestrated such an embarrassing and ugly display of force.

It is good that the First Selectman Tesei has headed warnings, but why is he stopping at his own office and denying the security need at the front door.

Mr. Tesei is jeopardizing the safety of the remaining town employees.

How can the Town of Greenwich allow a soccer field to be built under these high tension power lines?

Connecticut State laws will not allow these types of power lines to be built over or next to a school.

Our little children and pregnant soccer moms will suffer under these power lines.

Who is going to measure the EMF radiation?

Please go to the Planning and Zoning meeting on Tuesday night and say no to the soccer field at the old Cos Cob power plant.

03/08/09 The Himes Times: A Critical Step

Friends,

It has been a very long year working on comprehensive health care reform. Over 60 town halls and health care events, much discussion, and historic votes in the House and the Senate have led us to where we are now. And if you haven't seen this recent report on Anthem's drastic increases in Connecticut - state regulators approving a 20% increase after Anthem requested a 32% increase - I recommend you look into it. It shows we need comprehensive reform now more than ever.

As we come closer to passing health care reform, I wanted to highlight a crucial victory we achieved in the House of Representatives two weeks ago - repealing the anti-trust exemption that health care companies have enjoyed for so long. This act will improve choice and competition for health care consumers across the board, leading to better decisions and better care. The unfair exemption drives up costs and, left unchecked, will ensure that we continue to pay too much for too little when it comes to our health care.

We must celebrate important moments like this. It was anticipation of these victories - truly changing the way Washington works and helping middle class families - that drove me to campaign for Congress three years ago. We have now empowered regulators to hold health care insurers accountable for their actions and righted a long-standing wrong.

But you know as well as I do that the death-panel promoters and the obstructionists will come after me this election year for these very same victories. That's why I'm glad to have the support of key groups like Students for a New American Politics PAC, which just granted me their early endorsement. Most importantly, I'm glad to enter this election year with you on my side to share these victories and gird ourselves for the next fight.

Jim

Open-door access to the leadership of the town, a hallmark of
First Selectman Peter Tesei's administration, isn't what it used to be.

Visitors to the selectmen's office suite at Town Hall must now be buzzed in by the receptionist, using a recently installed red telephone outside the front door. A video camera was also mounted on the ceiling above the phone to give Tesei's aides a birds-eye view of callers on closed-circuit television.

Access is also gained by key cards issued to town employees and some elected officials ...

...."There's been some disgruntled people, but nothing I would say that precipitated it," said Tesei. "I'm down in my office. I don't hear who comes in. It gives some semblance of order to it."....

03/07/10 Where's The Greenwich Time? - Let's Go Inside The P And Z - Read The Staff Report About The Plans To Fill That Big Hole On West Putnam Avenue

Click To Enlarge The Planing And Zoning Staff Report

See What The The Current Plans Are To Fill
That Massive Hole On West Putnam Avenue.

Town Hall Insiders Say That John J. Fareri, Who Is The President And Chief Executive Officer Of Fareri Associates, A Real Estate Development Company In Greenwich, Plans Fill The Hole That Greenwich BMW Left On Putnam Avenue With A National Drug Store And A Local Bank.
Everyone Is Guessing That The Chain Drug Store Will Be CVS, But Everyone Knows That The Bank Will Be A Branch Of The Cos Cob Bank Known As The The Bank Of Greenwich Which Is Now Known As The First Bank Of Greenwich .
However, Many In Town Call The It The Bank Of Fareri, Because John J. Fareri Is An Owner And Director Of Newly Named First Bank Of Greenwich.
It's Just Great That The Bank Formerly Known As The Bank Of Greenwich Is Making Huge Loan's To Bank Insiders And Directors.
Let's Take A Look At A Typical
First Bank Of Greenwich Board Of Director
It Is A Sure Fire Bet That Anthony J. Melillo, Jr. Who Is The Owner Of Melillo Maintenance Will Be Cleaning The New Building Once It Is Built.
This Is Because Anthony Melillo Is Also A Director Of The Newly Named First Bank Of Greenwich.
It Is Always Comforting When The Bank's Janitor Has A High Powered Board Of Directors Seat.
If You Can't Get To The Bank Before It Closes, Then Just Tap On The Glass Late At Night And Maybe Anthony Will Put Down His Mop And Take Your Deposit.
Now That's A Hometown Service That Other Greenwich Banks Just Can't Provide.
Let's Look At Some Of The Other Directors Of
The Newly Named First Bank Of Greenwich
Robert Oca Is Now The Chairman, President And Chief Executive Officer Of The Newly Named First Bank Of Greenwich And Was Previously The President, Chief Executive Officer And Organizer Of The Bank of Westport.
He Left The Bank In August 2002 In A Management Shake-Up That Also Saw The Bank's Chairman Edward Capasse Resign.
Later There Was A Scandal At The Bank Of Westport Concerning The Bank Acting As Custodian For The Infamous Bernie Madoff.
The Newly Renamed First Bank Of Greenwich Was Founded In 2006 On The First Floor Of A Commercial Building At 61 Mason St. In Greenwich And Has Recently Completed Construction Of Its Own Building On East Putnam Avenue In Cos Cob.
Soon The Parent Of The Bank Of Westport Sued The Bank Of Greenwich And The Bank Of Greenwich Had To Change It's Name To The First Bank Of Greenwich.
The Court Permanently Enjoined The Bank Of Greenwich From Using The Mark “The Bank of Greenwich”.
It Just Keeps Getting Better And Better
There Are More Bernie Madoff Connections At
The Newly Named First Bank Of Greenwich.
Let's See Who Else Is Also On The
Newly Named First Bank Of Greenwich Board
Another Bank Of Greenwich Director Is Noel Levine Who Is The President Of Troon Management, A Real Estate and Management Company, Located In New York City.
Mr. Levine Was Formerly The Chairman And CEO Of Associated Products.
Associated Products Which Was Spun Off By Nabisco In 1983
Levine Was Also One Of Bernie Madoff's Best Buddies.
Many Greenwich Residents Originally Brought Up Bank of Greenwich Because Noel Levine Connections To Bernie Madoff.
More Than A Few Greenwich Political Insiders Have Said That It Is Odd That The Greenwich Time Has Refused To Report On The Relationship Between Bernie Madoff and Noel Levine.
Greenwich Roundup Has Only Found One Reference To Noel Levine In The Greenwich Time He Was In A Database Of Person's Possibly Losing Money With Madoff
But The Greenwich Time Won't Report That Levine's Firm, Troon Management Inc., Shared An Office And A Phone Number With Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC.
The Address That Troon Management Inc The 17th Floor, 885 Third Ave NYC. The Phone Number Is (212) 240-2424 And The Fax Is (212) 486-8178.
Noel Levine Registered Troon Management Inc. In NY in 1990. Troon Management Has Been Listed As A Real Estate And Equities Investment Company But No Other Information Seems To Be Publicly Available.

More Recently, Levine Founded The Bank of Greenwich And Became Its President In Later Part Of 2006.
Robert J. Oca Is Now President Of The Newly Named First Bank of Greenwich.
Some Of The Person's Who Invested In The Newly Named Bank Of Greenwich Might Say, "Yes, Noel Levine Is An Executive Of The Bank of Greenwich. So What?"

Many Financial Insiders In Greenwich Wonder Where Levine Got The Cash To Start The Bank Of Greenwich, Because Some Of Levines Financial Filings Just Don't Add Up.
According To An October 2005 Los Angeles Times story, Noel Levine And His Wife, Harriette, Made A $12 million Contribution To The Israel Museum In 2005 Through Their Foundation.

Greenwich Roundup Checked The 990s Filed By The Noel And Harriette Levine Foundation And The Foundation Has Never Had More Than $850 In Assets Since 2001.
The Documents Show That The Assets Appear To Have Been Invested With Bernie Madoff.

The Foundation's Address And Phone Number Is The Same As Madoff's But The Books And Records Are In The Care Of Noel Levine at (212) 230-8229.

Greenwich Roundup Thinks There Is Something Something Really Screwy With Noel Levine And The Newly Named First Bank Of Greenwich.

You Have To Wonder If The Levines Really Gave $12 million To The Israel Museum.

If Noel Levine Had His Money Invested With Bernie Madoff,
Wouldn't Levine Had Been Wiped Out Like Everyone Else Who Invested With Madoff?
If Levine Was Such A Good Investor With Madoof That Was Allowed To Use Share His Office And Phone Numbers. You Would Think That The Majority Of His Funds Were Invested With Madoff.
Inquiring Minds Want To Know ......
Where Did Noel Levine Get The Cash To Start Up The Bank Of Greenwich With A Local Janitor Named Anthony Anthony J. Melillo ?

Why Did An Oldster Like Levine Want To Get Involved With A Local Bank In Greenwich In The First Place?
Where Is Trei Buhl And The Greenwich Time?
The Hot New Greenwich Time Business Reporter Teri "No Bull" Buhl Has Been Too Busy Reporting About Plainfield Asset Management Asking A Borrower To Keep Dealings Quiet , And Has Not Had Time To Look Into The Newly Named First Bank Of Greenwich.
Perhaps, She Should Look Into The Rumor That Plainfield Still Owns A Big Slug Of That Bank Used To Be Called The Bank of Greenwich.
But What's Wrong With The Infamous Scandal Scared Planfield Owning A Huge Chunk Of The Bank Formerly Known As The Bank Of Greenwich?
Hey, Plainfield Has Always Been A Gambler And Has
Major Stakes In A Few Casinos To Prove It.
In 2006, Banking Commissioner John Burke Approved Plainfield's Acquisition Of More Than 10% Of The Outstanding Shares Of The Bank Formerly Known As The Bank of Greenwich.

Back Then The Bank Of Greenwich Said They Raised
$10 million In Its Initial Stock Offering.

The Exact Amount Of Plainfield Greenwich Holdings' Stake Was Never Publicly Disclosed.
Levine, Melillo And Oca Say That Greenwich Roundup Should Not Be Allowed To Suggest That The Bank, Formerly Known As, The Bank of Greenwich, Planfield Asset Management, Goldman Sachs, Others Were Involved In The Madoff Scandal.
Greenwich Residents Who Have Deposits In The First Bank Of Greenwich Do Not Need To Worry Their Deposits Are Fully Insured By The FDIC.
But Greenwich Investors Who Own Shares In The Newly Named First Bank Of Greenwich Might Consider Calling Up Their Broker A Screaming,"SELL, SELL, SELL !!!!" Into Their Phone.
Perhaps Teri "No Bull" Buhl Will Break The Story In The Local Rag Once The New York Times Or The Wall Street Journal Comes Out With The Full Story.
If Greenwich Time Reporter Teri "No Bull" Buhl Wanted To Get A Jump On The New York Financial Reporters And Bloggers For A Change She Might Want To Check Out The Rumor That Greenwich Resident Mark Madoff Was Involved With Troon Management.
Maybe Troon Management Insiders Survived, Because Mark Madoff Took The Option Of Selling Out His Daddy When The Feds Came A Calling.
Maybe Greenwich Time Investigative Reporter Teri Buhl Can Start With The WSJ Article Last May That Said Noel Levine Is Under Criminal Investigation Because He Was One Of Bernie's Very Special Customers Along With Jeffry Picower And Carl Shapiro.
Teri Bulh Should Take A Look At The Spoke Website Lists Daniel Bonventre As Operations Manager For Troon Management.
Then Greenwich Time Investigative Reporter Teri Buhl Could Start With The Huufington Post Article About Daniel Bonventre Being Arrestted Ten Days Ago .
Bernard Madoff's Claim To Have Pulled Off His Multibillion Dollar Swindle Without Assistance Is Quickly Starting To Fall Apart AQnd Is Headind Toward Noel Levine Who Is The President Of Troon Management And The Founder And Former President Of The Knewly Renamed First Bank Of Greenwich.
While Greenwich Roundup Readers Wait For Teri Buhl To Cover The Madoff Scandal To Blow Up In First Bank Of Greenwich Director Noel Levine's Face They Can Read The Criminal Complaint Against Ex-Madoff Aide Daniel Bonventre.
Federal Authorities Have Repeatedly Said Their Investigation Has Shown That Madoff Needed A Team Of Enablers To Carry Out His Massive Crime
But Greenwich Roundup Readers Can Say We Say We Saw Smoke At The Bank Of Greenwich A Long Time Ago.
The Real Question Is Can A Local Bank That Is Losing Up To 3 Million Dollars A Year Complete The Job Of Putting A Structure In The Big Hole On Putnam Avenue.
The Hole Was Created When An Underfunded Greenwich BMW Walked Away From A Building It Wanted To Put At 644 West Putnam Avenue.
Later Greenwich BMW Lost It's 40 Bay Port Chester Service Center To A Bunch Of Korean Automotive Dealers.
All Of This Happened Because Greenwich BMW Was Not As Financially Stable As They Pretended To Be.
Let's Hope That The Planning And Zoning Commission Makes Sure That John Fareri And The Newly Named First Bank Of Greenwich Is Financially Stable Enough To Complete The Job.
Let's Also Hope That Greenwich Roundup Is Not Found Wearing Cement Shoes In The Byram River, Because He Reported What The Greenwich Time Is Afraid To Report About The Bank Formerly Known As The Bank Of Greenwich.
If The FDIC Were To Take Over The Money Losing Bank Now Known As The First Bank Of Greenwich, Then Chase Might Be The First One To Put Money Down For The First Bank Of Greenwich Buiding And Deposits.
This Would Help Chase Get It's Retail Bank Location Without Closing Down A Popular Cos Cob Resturant.
