Dear Friend,
With just 15 days until the Democratic Primary, I wanted to share some thoughts on the political lay of the land and remind you of the importance of getting your friends, family, and neighbors to vote on August 10. Four years ago, I stood up to challenge the political establishment. We helped generate the largest turnout in primary history, and we beat the odds on that hot day in August. As we head toward another primary on a hot day in August, remember that votes make a difference and the bigger the turnout, the better our chances to win in August, win in November, and get Connecticut winning again.
Please tune in to the debates this week: my extraordinary running mate Mary Glassman will be participating in the Lieutenant Governor's debate on WNPR today at 9:00am and on Thursday I'll go toe-to-toe with my fellow gubernatorial candidates at a forum in Windham. In addition, Mary and I have participated in numerous town hall forums and forums with other candidates.
We have begun to make our closing argument of this primary campaign with a strong endorsement from my good friend, Ted Kennedy, Jr, who reminded viewers and listeners alike that he and I share an optimistic and positive vision for the state. That vision starts with putting our people back to work and making sure that Connecticut's best days are ahead for all of our families.
Unfortunately, my opponent has decided to close this campaign out with a negative attack ad making false claims about debates (we've had 27 debates and counting), false claims about job creation in Stamford (take a look at the New Haven Register's editorial), and false claims about the company I started up. A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is still putting on its boots; our boots are on and we're fighting back and we need you to help us fight back.
I promise to be a different type of leader than the career politician who will say and do anything to get elected. I have not promised any jobs in exchange for support and you should know that I will go to Hartford with no strings attached, ready to tell the truth, whatever the consequences. I understand that the job of governor is not a stepping stone in a political career, it's an opportunity to do the right thing and make the tough choices on behalf of the people of our state. This term may be a tough four year run, but that is OK by me if we have changed Hartford and helped Connecticut families start winning again.
So on behalf of the Glassmans, Mary, Andy, Amanda, Nathan, and Samuel, and the Lamonts, Ned, Annie, Emily, Lindsay, and Teddy, please stand with me and help us get out the vote on August 10th by clicking here to find out how you can get involved in your community.
