Cleaning Up After Irene w/Photo
Greenwich Public Works and CL&P crews were seen working along the major routes in all sections of Greenwich Monday, cleaning up debris and repairing damage in the wake of Hurricane Irene, which toppled trees with her 60 mph winds; swelled rivers and streams with her heavy rains; and caused major tidal flooding along the coast.

Due to current road conditions, including closures as a result of downed trees and loose and fallen wires, many of the bus routes are not accessible and we are unable to provide the transportation necessary to hold the sixth and ninth grade orientations tomorrow (8/31). Therefore, orientation for sixth and ninth grade students is cancelled for Wednesday, August 31, 2011.
All other staff and student activities planned for August 31, 2011 will continue as scheduled.
Please continue to check the GPS web site and all other means of communication for updates. We will be making decisions about rescheduling sixth and ninth grade orientation activities and the opening status of school on Thursday (9/1) by 5:00 PM on Wednesday (8/31).
Be safe, drive carefully, and avoid any loose or fallen wires.

The Department of Parks and Recreation announces that the Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center will be showcasing its fall programs with an Open House which will be on Sunday, September 25, 2011 from 10am – 1pm.
The Programs that we will be featuring are for children 8 months to 12 years. The Classes are Just Wee Two Mommy and Me programs, Children’s Dance Programs with Dance Pointe, Tennis for Tots, Youth Basketball, Guitar Classes, and a special Magic Show featuring the Amazing Andy.
