02/20/10 Helping with my Plan Forward for Connecticut

Tom Foley for Governor

Tom Foley for GovernorI can't implement my Plan Forward for Connecticut alone. I need your help to overcome our largest obstacle, the Democrats' supermajority in Hartford.

As you may know, there is a special election on March 2nd in Stratford. This will be our first chance to work together on the local level as a team to help move Connecticut forward.

Please help me and our team by volunteering at Stratford Republican headquarters (2362 Main Street in Stratford Center) for a 'Super Saturday' door knocking effort beginning at 10am. I hope you'll join me in recruiting volunteers, for both this weekend and the next, who will work to get our message out that Connecticut needs a new direction.

Our team and I will also be volunteering at the phone banks to let people in Stratford know that my Plan Forward cannot be implemented by the Governor alone, I need partners who understand the importance of creating jobs and new opportunities for the people of Connecticut. Please tell your friends that volunteers are needed to man phone banks at the Republican Party Headquarters in New Britain Monday through Thursday 9:30AM-8PM and Friday 9:30AM-5PM.

To get more information contact Sarah Richards the CT State Republican Party at (860) 826-7378.

Thank you,

Tom

Stamford substitute teacher charged with prostitution
The Hour - Steve Kobak - ‎Feb 19, 2010‎ (Updated 02/20/10)

A substitute teacher for the Greenwich Board of Education was arrested Thursday night by Norwalk Police after allegedly offering two plainclothes cops a hands-on sex education course in exchange for cash.

Barbara Marie Glynn, 50, whose last known address is 15 Ridgecrest Road, Stamford, was charged with prostitution. She was arraigned Friday and sent to an Alternative Incarceration Center for substance abuse treatment. She was also ordered not to work with children. Her next court date was set for March 19.

Glynn allegedly approached an unmarked police vehicle that was driving at a slow rate of speed on Belle Avenue and asked the two detectives in the car if they wanted to get "freaky."She told the officers that it would cost $100 for "everything," according to court documents....

Substitute teacher charged with prostitution
Greenwich Time -
John Nickerson - ‎10:14 p.m., Friday, February 19, 2010

A Greenwich substitute teacher was arrested on charges of propositioning two police detectives for sex in South Norwalk Thursday night.

Barbara Glynn, 50, of 15 Ridgecrest Road, Stamford, was charged with prostitution and held overnight in lieu of $1,500 bond.

At her arraignment Friday afternoon at state Superior Court in Norwalk, Judge Bruce Hudock released Glynn on a written promise to appear in court and forbade her from working with school children while the case is before the court......

Following her release, Glynn said she has been a substitute teacher in Greenwich for the past year....

Greenwich school officials said Glynn has worked as a substitute on and off since August 2008. Most recently she subbed for two days in last fall.

"As with any personnel matter, we would confirm the arrest and the allegation. We will deal with it just as we deal with any personnel matter. It is confidential," said Deputy Superintendent Ellen Flanagan.

....At 7:45 p.m. Thursday, two plainclothes detectives in an unmarked car were propositioned by Glynn as she walked with a man on Belle Avenue in South Norwalk, according to police reports contained in her file.

While negotiating with the officers, Glynn said she would charge $100 to have sex with both in a nearby vacant house, their reports say.

Bail Commissioner Daniel Melendez said at Glynn's hearing that she has substance abuse issues.

Glynn has a crack habit, she said, adding that she has also been off medications for her bipolar disorder for a week.

Glynn is scheduled to appear in court to face the charge on March 15. She did not make a plea.

Comment:

How Did This Bipolar Crackhead End Up In A Greenwich Classroom?

It looks like the Greenwich Schools were to busy using drug sniffing dogs on the children and forgot to drug test the teachers.

A Greenwich parent tells Greenwich Roundup that just about anybody can do become a substitute teacher.

In Greenwich don't have to be a certified licensed actual "teacher" to be a substitute; you only have to apply and register with the BOE and then be available when they call you to come in.

Where's The Transparency At The Greenwich Board Of Education? Greenwich Board Of Education Insider Tells Greenwich Roundup That Anthony Byrne Did Not Submit His Resignation Or File For Administrative Leave Before Being Shown The Door. Greenwich Superintendent Of Schools Sidney Freund's Office Refuses To Admit That Byrne Was "Placed" On Administrative Leave On January 4th And Did Not Resign Or Request Administrative Leave Before The Forth. Therefore Greenwich Roundup Has Filed A Second Connecticut Freedom of Information Request For Byrne's Resignation Letter And Any Written Request By Byrne Made To Go On Administrative Leave Before January 4th. Leona Helmsley Greenwich mansion taken away from the GREAT David Ogilvy & Associates (theoriginalgreenwichdiva)
"It's going to be a friendlier process," are the words that Lyn Stevens of Greenwich Fine Properties used to described how she is planning to handle the listing of the late Leona Helmsley's Greenwich, Connecticut estate. Stevens recently picked up the listing of the 23,000 square-foot house after trustees decided not to renew their contract with David Ogilvy & Associates when it expired. Although Ogilvy lowered the price of the 40-acre estate, which is known as Dunnellen Hall, before it was taken away from him, many experts felt he over priced the Round Hill mansion when he first put it on the market. In early 2008, Ogilvy listed the estate at $125 million then just before it was taken away from him, he lowered it to $60 million. Stevens, however, felt Ogilvy did not drop it low enough. With a new price of $55 million, Stevens says, the home is "really priced appropriately in the market now." Once the estate that has eight double-stacked chimneys, in-door and out-door swimming pools and a 47-foot long reception hall is sold, the proceeds are slated to go to a charitable trust that was set up after Helmsley's death in August 2007. 3 Comments

This is the debate featuring other Republican candidates for U.S. Senate, including Peter Schiff and Rob Simmons. We want to ensure that Linda has a strong base of supporters there and would love to have you come. Please reply to this email and let me know if you are interested. Space is limited so please be timely in your response.Update:Linda's is not a politician, she's a business women who believes we need to change the ways of Washington. As an outsider, Linda is poised to take on another career politician, Attorney General Dick Blumenthal. Linda has attended over 260 events since she launched her campaign, traveling the state meeting with Republican leaders. As you can imagine, 169 towns makes for a lot of miles even in a small state like Connecticut. Those meetings and events have netted a number of key endorsements from around the state that will help solidify Linda's support this election cycle in a contested primary battle with former Congressman Rob Simmons.
