Both parties were released on a promise to appear and were scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford Monday.

Presents Dr. Henry Kissinger

Friday, November 4
12-2 p.m.
Hyatt Regency
Old Greenwich, CT

How Will China's Surging Economy Impact the U.S.?
China’s rapid rise from poverty-stricken nation to a global economic powerhouse is considered by many to be one of the greatest success stories in modern times.
Although increased trade relations with China have positively influenced the United States’ financial picture, most analysts believe China has the strength to overtake the U.S. as the world’s largest economy within 20 years.

Dr. Henry Kissinger -- who recently returned from his 40th trip to China -- will discuss his new book On China, and share his expert perspective on the global impact of China’s emerging economy on Friday, November 4. His remarks will be the centerpiece of a luncheon benefitting Family Centers at 12 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency in Old Greenwich.

Dr. Kissinger is widely recognized as the foremost authority on Chinese culture and economic strategy. He served as Secretary of State from 1973-1977 under Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. While in office, Kissinger played a dominant role in United States foreign policy, having pioneered détente with the Soviet Union and orchestrated the opening of diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. In 1973, Kissinger was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for negotiating the Paris Peace Accords and ending the Vietnam War.

09/30/11 Team Himes: Tonight Is Crucial

reelect

Dear Friends,

Tonight, at midnight, this crucial financial reporting period will end for Jim’s campaign. Republicans nationally and locally will take a look at this district to determine if they can pick up CT-4 in next fall’s elections. The right-wing has been working hard to show that there is no room for moderation and compromise in Congress--we think they are wrong.

Help us show that independent thinking is not dead in Washington.

Click HERE to make a contribution to Jim’s campaign today.

This week, The New York Times ran a profile of Jim in the Business section highlighting how valuable Jim’s background has proven in Congress. The article said:

Shortly after he beat out the incumbent, Christopher Shays, to win the seat, his expertise landed him a plum assignment on the House Financial Services Committee, where he helped write the House version of the Dodd-Frank Act, the financial regulatory overhaul.

Christopher S. Murphy, a fellow Connecticut Democrat, recalled seeing Mr. Himes giving impromptu economics lessons on the House floor during debates over the contentious bill. “There was always a crowd around Jim,” Mr. Murphy recalled. “He very quickly became a safe harbor for moderate members who wanted to make sure we corrected the abuses of Wall Street without killing the markets.”

We need more representation in Washington like Jim’s, not less. Help us make this filing decisive by clicking HERE and making a contribution before midnight tonight.

Thank you for your support!
Team Himes

www.greenwichtime.com/.../Blankley-would-restore-transpare...

To the editor:

It is time to restore transparency and competent leadership to Greenwich town government. Nowhere is that need greater than in our town's continued failure to make public its emergency planning and response, as your columnist Bob Horton detailed in an excellent series of articles on the subject. First Selectman Peter Tesei has demonstrably failed that test of leadership. During the latest storms, Mr. Tesei has insisted on maintaining an undue level of secrecy surrounding these plans, which have left countless residents in the dark wondering who's in charge and what services will or won't be delivered.

As Mr. Horton wrote, it is "folly...having a public official dedicated to directing the town's emergency response and then deciding to keep it a secret from the people it is designed to protect (and who paid for it)."

My vote this November will go to first selectman candidate John Blankley. John has over 40 years of top flight business experience in major public companies, and his working in the world of public company disclosure insures that Greenwich town government will see a return to transparency and competence that has been so sorely lacking. Please join me in voting for John Blankley.

PALMER HILL, STAMFORD’S PREMIER LUXURY RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY,

ACHIEVES 100th SALE MILESTONE FOLLOWING STRONG SALES MOMENTUM

- Palmer Hill Enters Phase III of Construction with New East Building -

Palmer Hill Partners, developer of Stamford’s premier luxury residential community Palmer Hill, is excited to announce its 100th sale. A steady flow of buyer traffic and sales momentum resulted in 30 home sales totaling over $20.2 million since the start of 2011. Ninety families are currently living at Palmer Hill and 15 more are scheduled to move in by year-end. In addition, the private, gated community has entered Phase III of construction with the commencement of the East Building. The East Building will provide new buying opportunities, with closings anticipated to take place in spring 2012.

“We attribute the strong 2011 sales activity at Palmer Hill to the progress of construction and our top-quality homes, both of which have positioned Palmer Hill as the premier option for homebuyers seeking new construction.” said Bill McGuinness, principal of Palmer Hill Partners. “Our research suggests that Palmer Hill home sales account for more than fifty percent of the new construction market in Greenwich and Stamford, which is a testament to the value we offer.”

Phase I is completely sold out and fully occupied, while only a few offerings remaining in Phase II. Phase III offers new inventory including 27 garden condominiums in five different floor plans currently priced from the low $500,000s to the high $700,000s. Phase III will also feature a new line of townhome floor plans that will be available for occupancy in 2012.

“Sales at Palmer Hill have maintained a steady pace due to its uniquely broad appeal to buyers ranging from single professionals to young families and empty nesters” said Bob Dale, principal of Palmer Hill Partners.

Ideally situated in the heart of lower Fairfield County, where Old Greenwich meets Stamford, Palmer Hill is an award-winning community set on nearly 20 acres of park-like landscaped grounds and conservation areas and is designed in the traditional architectural style of coastal New England. The private, gated community features 195 residences, including 114 townhomes and 81 condominium residences with dozens of custom options, including all flooring, cabinetry, counters, tiles and electronics, and each home has its own private outdoor spaces including patios, terraces and/or balconies. Renowned designer Lynn Morgan has decorated the model homes and includes furnishings from a variety of local merchants.

Palmer Hill offers five single-level two- and three-bedroom condominium plans, with homes ranging in size from 1,200 to over 2,000 square feet, and priced from the $500,000s to the high $700,000. The condominium buildings are designed in traditional shingle-style architecture with dramatic rooflines, brick chimneys and other elegant details, set on a centrally located landscaped courtyard. Condominium residents each have access to garage parking for two cars and direct elevator access onto each floor.

The three-bedroom townhomes feature New England cottage-style architecture, with clapboard siding, large flagstone porches and patios, brick chimney pots and window boxes. Townhomes range in size from approximately 2,000 to 4,000 square feet and offer private two-car garages and brick-paver driveways and walkways. Select models include first-floor master bedroom suites. The townhomes are priced from the $700,000s to over $1 million.

Amenities include a dramatic 3,500-square-foot community clubhouse with a resort-style swimming pool, spa hot tub and outdoor fire pit. French doors lead from the pool terrace into the well-appointed clubroom which offers a catering kitchen, flat-screen television, fireplace and luxurious furnishings. Palmer Hill’s fitness center features state-of-the-art equipment and flat-screen televisions, and a yoga studio with hardwood floors, mirrored walls and ballet bar. A business center is available to residents as well, complete with wireless Internet access, conference table and computer kiosks.

For more information or to schedule a visit and tour the fully decorated model homes, please call 203-989-0315 or visit www.palmerhillhomes.com.

09/29/11 Letter To Editor In Support of BOE Candidacy

To Greenwich Roundup:

I am submitting for publication the following letter to the editor in support of the BOE candidacy of Marianna Ponns Cohen.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Hal Rogers

To the editor:

We are very fortunate to have Marianna Ponns Cohen on our Board of Education. And she deserves our full support for a second term. This is why.

Ms. Ponns Cohen has consistently advocated that the Board allocate resources more fairly among our schools, when others haven't. When she joined the Board in 2007, Marianna discovered wide discrepancies in school funding among schools not accounted for by school size. Some schools received over $17,000 per student (New Lebanon) and others received around $7,000 (Riverside). She recommended that the Board review its allocations. Her fellow Board members rejected this self-evident review, though Boards are mandated under Connecticut law to provide "equitable allocation of resources among our schools." Who will have the courage to advocate for that if is she is not there?

In addition, prior to her joining the Board, student residency verification was handled at each of our 15 schools, with varying degrees of latitude. As part of responsible stewardship of the Town's funds, Marianna successfully promoted centralized student residency verification to ensure consistent application of the rules. Now there is residency verification at varying entry points in the public school system.

Since Greenwich spends $18,400 per student, 10 non-resident students alone would cost our taxpayers almost $185,000. This would divert funds away from educating our students and improving their achievement. Our taxes should be going to educate our Town's students, not out of Town or out of state residents.

Marianna's actions are the very definition of responsible leadership. I will vote for Marianna Ponns Cohen on November 8, and expect you would want to do so as well.

Hal Rogers
