'Sugar daddy' sex scandal case heading to trial

STAMFORD -- A Michigan woman, deemed the "head slave" of a Greenwich investor's online fantasy world, rejected a plea deal Tuesday in an extortion case and is planning to fight the charges.

Patricia Miller, 45, of Cassopolis, Mich., appeared in state Superior Court, where she told a judge she would not accept a plea agreement on felony charges that would have allowed her to avoid jail time.

Miller is charged with first-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, first-degree criminal attempt at larceny and second-degree larceny for allegedly using various Internet personas to blackmail DuPont heir and Riverside resident Stephen Dent.....

....."Basically, I am trying to clear my name," said Miller, who is married and has one daughter and two grandchildren. "I feel this is a selective prosecution. I think it's very unfair.".

Dent, who viewed himself a "slave master," had a network of women he chatted with on the "sugar daddy" dating site SeekingArrangement.com. Miller is the fourth person charged by Greenwich police with attempting or successfully extorting the millionaire as a result of these online relationships.

The Michigan woman is described in police reports as the "harem mother" who would call Dent's "slaves" to make sure they were fulfilling their end of the arrangement, which entailed getting breast implants and sending the investor sexually explicit pictures and chats......

......Dent has not been charged with a crime. Police said they declined to charge Dent in 2007 with patronizing a prostitute because they were going after the more serious crime of extortion and said it would have been difficult to prosecute him based only on statements......

Greenwich twins face judge for separate offenses
STAMFORD -- Twin brothers from Greenwich facing a slew of charges appeared Tuesday at state Superior Court, where a judge sentenced one to prison and sent the other to jail to await his next court date

Daniel and Christopher Flores, both 21, appeared separately in court before Judge Richard Comerford. Daniel Flores entered a plea agreement on multiple offenses, many stemming from a March 14 incident at Wilbur Peck Court in which Flores was part of a group that became aggressive and unruly toward police.

Flores will face three years in prison with three years of special parole for charges of interfering with an officer, inciting a riot, breach of peace and inciting injury to a person or property, according to the plea agreement. The plea deal also encompasses March 23 charges, including violation of probation, sixth-degree larceny and illegal use of a credit card.

Christopher Flores was scheduled to apply for accelerated rehabilitation Tuesday for numerous charges ranging from possession of liquor by a minor in 2007 to interfering with an officer on March 16 during a courthouse melee that erupted when Flores had come to attend his brother's court appearance Flores' attorney Mark Sherman told Comerford that Flores had picked up a new charge that was going to hinder his application to the accelerated rehabilitation program........

......Flores' attorney Mark Sherman told Comerford that Flores had picked up a new charge that was going to hinder his application to the accelerated rehabilitation program.

"My client has picked up a new file," said Sherman. "I know it's not a good thing, but my client has asked me to plead with you not to raise the bond."

According to court records, Flores was charged Aug. 22 for possession of narcotics......

......"Chris and Dan have taken a lot of the blame for a much bigger problem going on in Wilbur Peck Court," said Sherman. "They should not have to carry the weight of the neighborhoods' problems on their shoulders alone. These are two boys who have been dealt tough hands -- they don't have any parents in their lives, yet have still made it through high school, worked steady jobs and have tried to persevere.......

......Several other men charged in the March 14 incident at Wilbur Peck Court have not yet resolved their cases, including Jorge Cardenas-Rey, 21, Stephen Wells, 18, and Joseph Antanascio Carey, 19. A 17-year-old also was charged. All but Wells lived at Wilbur Peck Court at the time of the incident, but have since been evicted, according to the Greenwich Housing Authority.

09/01/09 Reader Submitted Comments About The Matthew Margolies Murder In Greenwich

The Greenwich Time recently reported the following:

"The investigation has been hindered in many ways primarily by people intentionally misleading us or withholding information," said Zuccerella."

I for one cannot believe that after all this time that no-one has been brought to justice.

I don't think it was ex Port Chester police officer Bates, but someone from the neighborhood who was known to Matthew Margolies, and that is why people have supposedly mislead and withheld information.

This was a horrific murder, and took it's toll on the local community.

Many in this part of town say that it is the Greenwich Police Department that is "intentionally misleading us or withholding information."

One week after finding Matthew Margolies' body the Greenwich Police Department revealed that they had located Matthew Margolies' missing fishing pole.

By all reports Matthew was last seen in possession of that fishing rod the day he disappeared killed.

In a prepared statement then Greenwich Police Chief Thomas Keegan (the former lead detective who screwed up the Martha Moxley case back in 1975) said that the rod had been sold by Matthew to a "friend."

For 25 years, the Greenwich Police Department have refused to identify the "friend" who ended up with Matthew's fishing pole.

Why all the secrecy?

Who is the Greenwich Police Department protecting?

Maybe if the Greenwich Police Department would open up after 25 years and start telling the truth, then others in the neighborhood would feel safe enough to talk openly about suspicions they may have.

09/01/09 Greenwich Blogger Prevented By Police From Attending Himes Meeting

Hot time at the Himes Town Hall meeting tonight

Himes is speaking at Town Hall right now (6:45) and being broadcast by WGCH – who knew that station was still in business?
I couldn’t get in because, when I arrived at 6, I was told by a very polite policeman that seating/standing capacity was 200 and it was already filled.
Turns out the Dems sent out emails urging TeddyKare supporters to show up at 4:30 and take all the seats. Those of us with jobs – non Democrats, in other words, were to be shut out.
I’m told by someone listening to the broadcast that, judging from the noise, the Dems missed some seats but what the heck, should be fun.

Update:

They let in a reporter from Greenwich Time. Maybe I should have tried to crash the party as a blogging reporter?
