Greenwich resident and author William B. Ewald Jr., a speechwriter for Dwight D. Eisenhower during his presidency, died at his home Monday at age 89. According to information from the Eisenhower Library in Kansas, William Bragg Ewald was born in Chicago on Dec. 8, 1925. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis , Mo., in 1946, earned a master's degree from Harvard in 1947 and a doctorate in English, also from Harvard in 1951.
